We all need to chill out on are complaints tonight... alot more to be thankful for after tonight's game then some seem to be acknowledging.

1. This team last year in same game would've lost 40-24 or something like that... this defense now has some energy, fire, and some talent too

2. Eagles offense is legit one of better ones we will face this year they do that to pretty much all teams nothing to be upset with in your first full game from D they done well and should improve

3. Oline wasn't a complete mess with all changes in 10 days... they had good and bad moments but their signs that point to them being serviceable... Philly had a top pass rush last year

4. Rookies showed up and out... Beasley beat Peters a few times and batted down a 3rd down pass, Jarrett showed his pass rushing ability, and Coleman is a legit running back

5. Roddy White looked great and Julio jones may very well challenge all this year for best Wr in the league.

Matt Ryan clean it up you got some talent and coaching around you now make it count!!! That's all

Roddy had several penalties he needs to clean up. He got a PI and 2 holding calls that were drive killers. Love Roddy, but he needs to clean that up.

They were calling an excessive amount of offensive pass interference. Was there some kind of rules change related to that or did they decide to make it focus for this season? Just wondering because I may have seen more offensive pass interference penalties in this game that I've seen in a previous season before.

Dang straight brother. I said it in another thread, all the complainers need to go pull for the bucs so they can pretend they know what they are talking about.

Penalties were a given this early honestly. Not excusing them as they need to get cleaned up, but not terribly surprising.

Agree with pretty much all your points. I can't see last year's Falcons team beating this year's Eagles team either. We'll never know, but my money would've certainly been on the Eagles vs Smittyball. The Eagle offense has looked very dynamic and well-run by Bradford in preseason. It's a credit to our defense to have stifled that O so effectively for the whole first half. Really exciting to think about just how good this unit is going to be by mid-season.

And speaking of being pretty good by the half-way mark, I think this OL unit will also come together by that point in time. Beasley, Jarrett would great out there tonight. They are both going to be high-energy, high-impact players on our D for years to come. And Coleman showed out. There is no substitute for speed, but the dude also showed tremendous ability to weave through heavy traffic in the middle to get positive yards almost like magic.

This was a tough, hard-fought win against a very worthy opponent. Quinn got his first game as HC, the defense showed it was much-improved, the OL was better than many expected. Very positive night, very important victory the team can build on going forward.

There ain't much to complain about. Sure, there is plenty we can improve on. And Quinn will make sure that happens.

But dude, we got ourselves a COACH! He knows how to gut it out and get a win, and he has taught our players that! And him and Shanny matched Chip Kelley in the chess match. And we have ourselves MUCH improved D. And somehow we managed a running game.

And we got the W.

So, on the short-term level, we won the game. And on the long-term level, our team definitely appears to be on the right track! We should all be thrilled.

Did you watch the game? If so, did you happen to catch the comment from the announcers, about Quinn building a "culture" in Atlanta, and the improved play leading from it?

I immediately thought of your argument from the other day, when I heard that. laugh.png

I was at the game so I didn't hear any commentary. I asked the board a few times tho. That's good. I do believe Quinn will bring that here.

reality check.

with a little more time the team will look more like we did in the first half for the whole game.

the O-line can only improve being that we just signed one guy a week ago and this was their first game playing together EVER

the sacks will come. Beasley Garrett Schofield & Clayborn got good pressure almost all night, until they got winded in the 3rd but they regrouped down the stretch

Freeman is stiff. he'll look better after getting a few more reps

Durant and Worrilow are grown men, and forget about trying to run on Soliai & Jackson

Matt will settle down once he trusts the line will hold up and accordiing to Julio, we scaled back on some plays because the O-line is not fully up to speed.

Matt will eventually target other players and throw better

our secondary is good.

Reed will be back down the stretch and that will probably mean we'll only see Bierman on special teams

Bosher & Bryant are BOSSES!
