etherdome
Disagree. I think Matthews' smaller size and healthy legs makes him a better fit on the left side while Long's size and strength makes him a better fit on the right. agreed. Aggressive Pacifist!
Was just about to post that. Should be official tomorrow.Really glad to have Long aboard. He must have passed the physical so he instantly becomes a top 3 OL on this team.I hope he's still the player you think he is. I really do. And i hope to god he can stay healthy. PokerSteve
Maybe Gino can beat out Person at C, we'll see. I was sort of thinking that was the plan when they signed Gino, that he would be taking over in a few weeks?

I understand that the whole center thing is new to him, but he's just got to get better.

Tuggle'2
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000530894/article/falcons-expected-to-sign-former-no-1-pick-jake-longAround the NFL Jake Long expected to sign with Falcons this week The Atlanta Falcons' blockers held their own as the offense racked up 244 yards in the first half of Monday night's opener versus the Philadelphia Eagles.Every game, all seasonEven with that impressive showing, the offensive line will likely get reinforcements this week.Former Dolphins and Rams tackle Jake Long is expected to sign with Atlanta, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, via a source informed of the team's plans. The first-overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft worked out for the Falcons last week. Long is finally ready to suit up after Dr. James Andrews cleared him for action following last October's ACL tear.Although last year's first-round pick, Jake Matthews, is holding down left tackle, a healthy Long should push Ryan Schraeder on the right side.At the very least, the 30-year-old offers veteran insurance with 96 career starts under his belt. Knight of God
They were already talking about Long signing during the game. I think he will be starting more soon than late. I also think he will be making a move to RT or Matthews will be. Either way it can solidify the line for no less than 2 years, which gives us time to draft mid round guys and develop them, or sign middle of the road guys like Gino and develop them.
