Dirtybird3
The Atlanta Falcons' blockers held their own as the offense racked up 244 yards in the first half of Monday night's opener versus thePhiladelphia Eagles.Every game, all seasonEven with that impressive showing, the offensive line will likely get reinforcements this week.Former Dolphins and Rams tackle Jake Long isexpected to sign with Atlanta, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, via a source informed of the team's plans. The first-overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draftworked out for the Falcons last week. Long is finally ready to suit up after Dr. James Andrews cleared him for action following last October's ACL tear.Although last year's first-round pick, Jake Matthews, is holding down left tackle, a healthy Long should push Ryan Schraeder on the right side.At the very least, the 30-year-old offers veteran insurance with 96 career starts under his belt. Ghosts of Glanville
Can't hurt. And if can get back to anything close to his pro bowl form it could be huge

Csdabest
Replace mike with stone. And i see this possibly being a dream team under Quinn. Especially with the prime years to come. Matt ryan just need to get his **** together.

Osiruz
After tonight's game we better have signed him. Shredder and Levitre were trying to get Matt Ryan murdered. We need to get him up to speed and start him at left tackle. You kick matthews out to right tackle, and all of a sudden out run game will improve ten fold. Out pass protection would also save Ryan's liver.
Aggressive Pacifist!
I like this. ANYTHING we can do to help bolster this pathetic OL is welcomed by me!
MilleniumFalcon
https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/643586167108149248Hopefully he'll help shore up the O-line even more.
Francis York Morgan
If he's completely healthy, I'd actually rather have Matthews on the right and Long on the left. Long is more used to that position and I feel like Matthews skillset makes him a better fit as a RT.
Dirtybird3
Article says expected to sign. Big difference.Your right but I don't see rap sheet insinuating or assuming something like that, something schefter reported on live tv,unless this was just about set it'll stone. Keys
Depth? You put your 5 best OL on the field. If Long is healthy he needs to be on the field. Would him starting be a good idea with his injury history? I wouldn't want to wear him down.

I would just keep Matthews at LT and stick in Long at RT.
AF89
If he lives up to his natural abilities great. If not fuq it keep going with what we got. Very little risk here (unless he gets Matt killed and let's face it that was a possibility anyway.)
Zakelsta30
Matthews is "da future" at LT. Zero chance we move him because we signed Long for a season or 2. Long will push Scharder for RT. Which will be good, but no where near what an upgrade would be at C.
