Falconsfan567
Here's an objective, and "sky is not falling" thread about the defense. The defense was great in the 1st half when the Eagles didn't do a lot of up tempo stuff. When most of their plays were straight at you plays. That's very encouraging because the Eagles are the only team in the NFL (maybe the Titans now that they have Mariota) that runs a lot of that high speed tempo crap.Yes the defense struggled in the second half when nearly every play the Eagles ran was a speed sweep or a screen or a 5 yard pass. We saw at the end of the game when the Eagles were forced to go back to a traditional offense the defense stopped them again and sealed the game.Anyone that has watched the Falcons for years has to be very encouraged by the way the defense played tonight. Jesus
Awesome effort. The giants offense is crap.
Falconsfan567
Run defense! Holy smokes! Everyone was talking about how DeMarco Murray would have his way with this defense. Well he only rushed for 9 yards on 8 carries with a long run of 8 yards. Absolutely awesome!!
WCFalcon
I'm very happy with how our defense played tonight. We played with an attitude and determination that I hadn't seen in a long time. It was great to see our defense play with an identity and it looks like our defense is headed in the right direction!
Jesus
I liked the big stop om Murray where if he had gone down initially it would have been a 5 yard loss but our team smothered him for a 12 yard loss. What I didn't like was when Beasley jumped offsides they all stopped playing as if the whistle had blown and the back shot through for a big gain. That was weird.
11JonesBrothers45
I thought of a nice Nick name for our defense. "Hit Squad"
shockerfalcon
I'm just happy to see what looks like an nfl caliber defense for a change. That was all I wanted to see I'm now officially a believer in Quinn. If we don't win 10 games this year I'll be severy disappointed
CTann
Super proud of this team and specifically the defense for tonight's game!8 yards rushing for the Eagles at the end of the 1st half? Only 63 rushing yards total for the Eagles? I never would've guessed! This was a great challenge for our defense.
pzummo
Our rush defense is 2nd in the league :-)
GleasonForever!
And it was against our 4-2-5 and 4-3 didn't have the monsters out there much. Impressive
birdman71
The defense showed what they can do when teams play with a conventional offense in the first half. The good news is most of the nfl teams play a conventional offense. And we wont see the eagles again unless we play them in the playoffs. That being said, they look like a top 5 defense. bigbabygrady
The first half defense vs the second half looked like night and day but i think the poor execution by the offense in the second half really attributed to the breakdown on defense. if the offense could have had some sustained drives late in the game, a lot of pressure would have been taken off the defense. i'm highly encouraged by what i saw though. even without tallying any sacks, bradford was getting popped hard. linebacker play by worrilow, schofield and bradford was lights out (go away biermann, never drop into coverage or attempt an open field tackle again), and our secondary made some great plays too. hope the run D can keep playing with that level of intensity next week in new jersey

ImpressiveThe Eagles stayed with 3 wr looks so naturally you're gonna play nickle against that. The difference is the philosophy and scheme. We attack now and not read n react. Philly had to blitz like crazy just to get pressure and I wanna thank them for it because you know our coaches are gonna dissect the film and work on ways to exploit that in the future

The defense just sucked it up and "finished" the game like they've been preaching. FINISH. Also the pressure turned up on that last philly drive as well. The thing I'm most impressed about is we don't blitz much. We get pressure from just the front 4 so our coverage can stay good. Breath of fresh air.
