ryanadonis
Well boys, I have been saying it for years and it finally happened. An overrated, over gimmick player in Joe Hawley was released and will most likely retire with Mike Johnson to start up High School Football camps in the ATL area. I first want to say, I respect the passion that Joe Hawley fans had for him. It was a battle EVERY FREAKING time i mentioned his name. You guys had a love for him that was more than any Vick fan had for him in his prime or even current Falcon players. There was no telling you guys different until it finally happened. James Stone will be the man for the next 10 years. He is amazing when he is asked to play to his strength. His strength is not running to a sideline and trying to pick up rushers while running sideways. His strength is smash mouth football and can get to the second level to block any LB in the league. Joe,I wish you the best. I have been saying it was best for him to either sit out half the season or get cut. The Falcons did pick up a very good center in Gradkowski. I want to say one final thing to all the fans of Joe Hawley that thought I was a troll or a moron, psycho, stalker, mark, idiot or what ever other names I was called on for the past 2 years, don't follow the sheep. Just because something is safe and looks like the easy way, it's not the best way. Joe Hawley was the most gimmick player I have ever seen. I never seen a guy try to get by with his look so much that he literally has every one on facebook and even on the HOME PAGE talk about his beard. Hawley was never big enough, he was never strong enough and the most important thing is he never had the heart or desire to be great. I saw it in his eyes and I knew it from the beginning. Hawley fans I am sorry for your loss but in the end, the Falcons just got WAY better as a tougher team in the NFL. Thank you Joe,Your Pal,Ryan The Great Final thought. I mentioned how I saw Jurrasic Park and how no one listened to the Chaos Specialist about his theory on how the dinosaurs would be a danger to humans, because of his "delivery". Well boys, I saw that movie, and I thought about what I was doing with this James Stone vs Hawley talk. In the end, I realized, some people will never get it, but some people will open their eyes and see it from another angle.Thank you all and I love each and every one of you. Here is a pic to think of me by, and I am always here to talk football with anyone. I love you all. Edited September 7, 2015 by R_The_Great

birdz4i
The ZBS is not a gimmick in any way.making 300+ lb men try to run outside to try to make mismatches and create lanes is not a gimmick? if you say so.

The O.D.B
This sets up a nice bonding experience for Earl Mitchel and Carl Davis. They can go out to the lake, crack open a beer and just sit there skipping Stone all day. I find it very hard to envision that this moves Stone into the starting position. Dirtybird56
Stone plays better at center than guard. I'm going to give Stone the benefit of the doubt because he is an athletic dude who moves very well. But he does not use his hands well right now What this move really means is we can't afford a single injury anywhere on the Oline. Before this we at least could take a hit to the interior. Anyway it's impossible to go all season with your starting line in tact so this season will be fun til that time comes. Maybe we'll be lucky and it'll be in the latter half of the season

capologist
I disagree with your assessment of Hawley's heart and desire but all that really doesn't matter now. Hope Stone is all you claim him to be and if not, I truly hope everyone rubs it in your face like you did here...
The O.D.B
GIve up the hate. Watch that Ravens game when Stone was starting at Center, OH MY GOD a RUN GAME????Have no hate toward stone or you. However, He's had several plays the last two games where he just got dominated, Against the Ravens by a Rookie. I hope he gets it together but, i think those assuming he's got it in the bag now have not been paying attention the last few weeks. When you're 3-4 yards in the backfield and grabbing at the backside of the guy's jersey that you were supposed to be blocking, that's not good. etherdome
OK, R, help me out a bit. You outlined Stone's skill set as follows: His strength is not running to a sideline and trying to pick up rushers while running sideways. His strength is smash mouth football and can get to the second level to block any LB in the league. This is the part that I don't understand. Doesn't the ZBS require that OL's move laterally very well? The ZBS is supposed to use quickness to overwhelm a particular point of attack. So, how does Stone's smash mouth talent play into that?
