ZoneOne01
If our offensive line isn't blocking, it doesn't matter how well our defense plays. They're going to get tired and then all **** will break loose. I hope I'm wrong but I don't have a good feeling about this game.
jfalconsp
I think we shut Demarco Murray down and Trufant takes out Jordan Matthews. Will be up to Alford to hold his own against the rookie. Our success will be defined by our offensive line play and if we can get the running game going. Matt and Julio are going to get there's whether he's doubled all night or not.I think we're going to do better than most here think, and I don't think our D gives them 30 points. Atlantafan21
I really don't understand why people think the Eagles are going to be such a good team.Right now they have a bad secondary, along with a slightly above average receiving corps. Along with a mediocre qb(although some would say he's a top 12 QB for whatever reason). If our passing game can exploit that secondary, it should be a W for the Falcons. LookAboutFalcon
I think this game could get ugly and in a bad way for us. I can see the Eagles fast pace tempo just killing our newly constructed Quinn defense. And we could hang with them scoring points, it all depends on how this shaky offensive line plays. I need to see some big changes with this team before i expect anything from them.
Atlfanstckndenver
I really don't understand why people think the Eagles are going to be such a good team.Well, again they've been a good team for the last two seasons already, so there is that. I don't think they're world beaters, but they're certainly a tough out.

Kaptain Krazy
I don't normally go negative, but I don't feel very confident about us winning this game. This is more like a dress rehearsal for the Falcons because our guys have not had time for any continuity. Also, quite a few starters haven't played or have barely played in the preseason and Levitre just got here. I'm definitely worried, but hopefully we can pull it out. This is my biggest worry, even more than the OL itself (lack of familiarity with the scheme and each other will exacerbate the lack of OL talent). If Quinn can lead the Falcons to a home victory over a team picked by many to win their division and that has been playing well in the preseason, i will be very impressed with his head coaching ability.Eagles -1 on the road = they are a 4pt favorite on a neutral field.Hopefully their decision to trade a starting CB will come back to bite them. Fiddlin John Carson
I'm with everyone else.....if our oline can block their front seven then we good. And I believe we can. The oline we have seen this preseason is better than it has looked. Quinn has put them under difficult situations for a reason.Shannahan knows the line aint in synch yet...and will gameplan accordingly. They do not have the personnel on the backside to play 8 in the box against us....julio will kill them. I believe we go with a 3wr look alot...with Julio, Roddy, and Hank...because they do not have the cb's to match up.On defense...I aint skeered of Chip Kelly's high school offense. I believe Quinn's defense schematically matches up well with it....as do our personnel. Our DT's Clay, Hags, and Babs quickly penetrating will blow up that read option crap. I dont think their interior ol can block us.With Tru and Alford, if we can force them to throw the ball...and we can...it's game over. madman88
Think it really helps having his extra time to prepare for them and their tempo. Also helps is that the Eagles won't have too much film on us.We've used so many different variations along the line and at WR, they haven't seen much of Coleman or Devonte, there's a lot of unknown for the Eagles. On defense we have used a cover 3 zone so much that I know there isn't a lot of film on us playing man or really doing much of anything.I think Quinn and the staff handled this pre season very very well.exatcly! when a team gets a new hc they try to see what he did at his previous team.. but since quinn is letting richard smith call the defense, now if your the eagles, you gotta be scratching your head a little bit. They gotta assume heavy cover 3 and some cover 1 as well.. Knowing this i hope they throw them for a loop and be very aggressive coming out. Strategic move but a good one imo.

If we play Moore up in the box and attack with the dline to stop the run....Celek will find holes. And Kelly will go this route if we start blowing up his read option on early downs. If I were Kelly....I'd go with a 3 wr set against us with Miles Austin as the 3rd wr. Both he and starter Matthews are big...over 6'3". They present matchup issues with our cb's.
Tony Diesel
Basically, as long as Matt has adequate pass protection... Falcons win.Matt and his thoroughbred receivers will destroy the Eagirl corners. They have Byron Maxwell and a bunch of scrubs at CB. Truth be told, I'm not even convinced of Maxwell's effectiveness without that awesome Seahawk defense around him. I know he can't cover Hoo... but then again, no one can. Falcons will hang 40 on the Eagirls and the mighty Quinn gets win number 1.

Radiohead
I'm mostly looking forward to seeing if the glimpses of defensive front QB pressure shown in the preseason is the real thing, or not.
Guest Dirty Bird Nation ®
Chip Kelly is no joke and that offense is a whole new level. Our defense has improved, but we won't be able to handle them. Not to mention our O-line and running don't look good. Realistically speaking I think eagles win it by 14 or 17 points. Chip is definitely painting himself into a corner with his methods and attitude towards running that team. Basically if he doesn't start showing large returns and playoff success things will turn on him VERY quickly. Players and fans alike. SyCo
tater thoughts:Lolll, that about sums it up.Seriously, right now the Falcons are not a very good team. Granted, they're and NFL team and anything can happen. But for this game to be competitive or god forbid the Eagles lose, the Eagles would really have to come not ready and completely unprepared. Except for QB, there is not a single position they have the advantage over the Eagles. OFFENSE:QB - Falcons / because of the surrounding talent this might even favor the EaglesRB - Eagles / by a wide marginTE - Eagles / by a wide marginOL - Eagles / by a large marginWR - Eagles / as a group the Eagles are superior DEFENSE:DL - Eagles / by a wide marginLBs - Eagles / by a wide marginCBs - Eagles / by a wide marginS - Eagles / by a wide margin Special Teams - Eagles / by a wide marginCoaching - Eagles / by a wide marginCheerleaders - Eagles / by lots of 34DsAnnouncers - Eagles / M.R. - any questions ?? pzummo
Normally I would agree that the 1st game will be an indication of what our season will be like but I think this season will either...1. Start slow and end up finishing strong2. Start fast, get put back down to earth, and then finish strongI do think that this first game will indicate which one of the above will happen, but I don't think a loss indicates a losing season. Edit: I did just assume that's what you meant, if that's not then I apologize. What I meant was we will know a lot about our team after this game. And that's regardless of whether we win or lose. This game will tell me whether or not we are competing this season. We will get a very good read on offense, defense, and ST's. They are very explosive in all 3 phases. This will be a very tough test for Beasley's first game dealing with Peters at LT. If our D holds them below 30, we will be middle of the pack or better by season's end. If our D holds them below 24, we will be really good. Under 17, which I'm not expecting, but if it did happen, Quinn will get a statue in front of the new Atlanta stadium and a trophy in the case. Falcon Ben
I hate that this is a Monday night game. have to wait longer for the birds to play. That being said, we need to run the ball to keep the defense fresh or we will be ******.This. I like that DQ faced them recently and his team at the time performed well. That said, they will put up points. Matt and the boys certainly will figure out how to get a couple of scores on the board, but establishing the ground game will be crucial for resting our defense, keeping the ball out of their hands and keeping their D honest. Come Tuesday morning, we will be singing the praises of Hawley, Chester and Levitre or criticizing Schraeder's pass-blocking skills, Collins getting burned and an untimely drop by Hardy. Giants 7-9 and Redskins was at 3-13Weren't they 10 and 6 again last season also? This is kinda what I was talking about with all do respect. The eagles are not a bad team. They just aren't. They aren't elite and I'm not even ready to say they are a playoff team yet, but matchup wise this will not be an easy game. Regardless of how bad we think that division has been the last two seasons, ours is at least as bad. I'd take 20 wins over ten any day. I'm not calling for doom and gloom. I'm just saying this team is going to put up a fight this Monday. Meanwhile it appears that many of us are expecting a Falcons blowout.
