KRUNKuno
Saints cut Baptiste. He's a 6'3" 218lbs cornerback that was a 2nd round pick last year. From my research, Baptiste was in Payton's doghouse. He's allegedly been burned a few times this preseason, although reports differ as to who's fault it was. But the caveat is that he only played 18 snaps last year...not nearly enough playing time to feel comfortable on an nfl field. In college at Nebraska Baptiste was very good. He was a physical ballhawk on the outside. Reports from this year is that he was on the up and up until a few preseason mistakes got him chewed out by Payton. This to me looks like a classic example of a player over thinking by not having the backing of his coaches. Since Quinn has been here we have heard nothing but raving reviews about how he allows you to mess up, and how our prior staff lamented mistakes. I believe Baptiste could benefit from being in a new environment like the one we have here.Plus he'd be able to say suck it saints twice a year.Thoughts? Lornoth
We already have that guy, he's named Southward. Except South smells better because he hasn't been living in the bayou.
Sun Tzu 7
Sounds like we have 2 guys on the roster just like him.If the corner starved Saints cut bait on him after one season there's probably a good reason for it

He wasnt even supposed to get drafted until the 5th round at the earliest, and most pundits barely had him on their boards. Collins is also very similar to Baptiste if you prefer that. We don't need another prototypically sized CB that needs a lot of development. spanish_falcon
His only asset is his size. I remember how bad he looked during senior bowl last year, not every big corner is going to be good because of being tall. We don't need another prototypically sized CB that needs a lot of development.I would drop Southward who's only getting a pass because he just made the transition to corner.Baptiste made the transition from receiver to corner while at nebraska. I'd say that's more difficult than making a move from safety to corner where Southward is stinking it all the way up.

AndySG
Depends if we like him more than Southward.
The O.D.B
I'd love to have him on our roster and I love the idea that he'd want to issue some payback to the saint's. I was a huge advocate of drafting him. However, I just don't see room for him at the moment.
Guest Dirty Bird Nation ®
Maybe if we were thin at corner and didn't have two guys like him. He'll get picked up somewhere though.

FalconFanSince1969
Yea lets cut a guy who has spent all off season learning the system and replace him with a guy who has spent zero time in the system a week before the season. Board full of geniuses I tell you.
ZoneOne01
I would cut Southward and sign himSame here. I'd much rather see what Quinn can do with SJB than with Southward.I will always and forever hate picking Southward in the third round. It made no sense then and it still doesn't now. Sheldon Cooper
I thought he was a bust in rd 2 when they made the pick. 5th rd would have been a better spot for him but same result. Southward may be much the same.
youngbloodz
Baptiste is ehh. He is from Miami so I'm very familiar with him.

quickzero
Southward is faster the Stanley but Stan is has a little bit better corner instincts. I'll stick with Southward.
