GATXBOI
Funny how people are saying it's because he's injuried and can't stay healthy but yet we have Brooks Reed who is coming off a season ending injury and hasn't played one single snap this season penciled in as a starter. That's exactly why he signed a settlement just like Konz
B_Lo_Touchdowns
That's exactly why he signed a settlement just like KonzReed hasn't signed an injury settlement but he should. Opens up a roster spot and he can be brought back to the team after week 8 if he's healthy enough to play which is around the time we'll see him anyway. Lornoth
You can't compare Tone to Roddy, or Moore, or Reed. They're good players that start for us. He's a ST guy (and we have a ton of them). There just wasn't room for Tone, I understand it completely.

He wasn't here last year to be a starter for us, he hasn't played a single snap this season, he doesn't know the scheme, why is he here??? RunningThePiszOuttaTheBall
Smith is flashy, but Smith also has zero versatility. Unless he gets the ball outside and in open space then he is useless. That is true and that is a good point. But still ... in that limited role when you *can* get him in space, it's magic. Plus, he's a MUCH better special teamer than Kroy or Terron. Probably better than Nick too.
Sun Tzu 7
This isn't directed at the op, but I don't get why fans get so tore up about marginal players being kept, released, etc. Kroy over Maponga and Antone released isn't really a big deal.Probably because of things like this http://media.giphy.com/media/nvbBPrBrQ6Xvy/giphy.gifI'm on my phone but can somebody paste these gifs?http://giphy.com/search/antone-smith

MasterBateser
fans get attached to players for some reason. I hate that kroy is on the team but there is no point in bitching about it over and over and over again because "I don't like the decision". Everyone here outside of yo lover and db11 are of age where we should all be able to move on from players rather quickly. Unfortunately that's not the caseYou hush, I haven't gotten attached to anyone!! Haha

MAD597
It's a bummer we wasted Smith so long on ST's, however it looks like anytime we want him to take a legit number of carries a game he will get injured. Sucks but it is what it is Freeman and Coleman will give us the speed we want at RB and Ward can be the big bruising RB we haven"t had since Turner. I like our RB rotation even if i was a A. Smith fan.
Sun Tzu 7
I've accepted Antone being gone, but it sucks that you guys are lumping a guy who scores about every 6-7 touches with nobodies. Scoring long TDs may be a one-dimensional trick, but its kind of a useful one.Bottom line. We don't beat the Saints first game of the season without A Smith. MAD597
The only often injured player I want to keep is JJ, everyone else can be purged from the roster if it were up to me. Moore is next on the list if he gets dinged up again during the season. Our last two years have been scrapped due to injury problems I'm glad the Front office is purging our roster of these players. I don;t want another year of 10+ guys on IR.

JG2008
I'm still on board with Quinn and Shanny. But I'm really surprised they kept these players over Antone Smith. If you're *not* surprised, I'd love to hear why not.1. Terron Ward2. Nick Williams (I like the kid too, but still...)3. Kroy BiermannAntone Smith was a great threat to have-no doubt - but we have replaced him with Coleman who is also a homerun hitter, we need 1 more solid O-line pick up to add besides Levitre and possibly a substantially better bruiser RB to compliment Freeman and Coleman instead of Terron Ward Edited September 6, 2015 by JG2008

I'm not saying I don't like him, or that I'm glad he's not on the team, I am a fan of his. At the end of the day, though, he has an injury, that apparently cannot be played through, and there is no sense in taking up a roster spot with a guy that can't play and was marginal to begin with. Sorry if that's not popular.

PHALCONABERNATHY
Terron Ward I am not surprised. He's a rookie and looked great this preseason. He reminds me a lot of Turner and not just because of the number. More experience and he's going to be a very good number 2 within the next couple seasons. Nick Williams had a great preseason as well and deserves a spot on the team. His play was good and a spot needed to be made for him, so I agree with it. Biermann, well, I don't know lol. I personally think he will be used as a pass rush specialist because he doesn't do anything else well. Smith was good, but his career has turned into Jerious Norwood 2.0 like I said in another post. He should find a home when he gets healthy, but we need all the help from players than contribute right now that we can get. I agree with it and think it's the proper move. Biermann, well, I don't know lol. I personally think he will be used as a pass rush specialist because he doesn't do anything else well.Kroy is actually pretty good in run support. He sets the edge well so LEO on rushing downs or SAM in general would be much better for him than what we've been doing to him in past years. Not sure about Kroy as a passrusher. I agree with Williams and Tone though.
