RunningThePiszOuttaTheBall
I'm still on board with Quinn and Shanny. But I'm really surprised they kept these players over Antone Smith. If you're *not* surprised, I'd love to hear why not.1. Terron Ward2. Nick Williams (I like the kid too, but still...)3. Kroy Biermann

MAD597
I love A Smith but I'm perfectly fine with Quinn letting go of players that seemed to be injured alot lately. The last two seasons have been sunk by injuries and I want our roster to be full of players that don't miss alot of games. So I'd rather give Ward and Williams a shot. Ward gives us a goal line threat and a change of pace to Freeman and Coleman. Williams could be our future slot guy.If a guy has missed any significant time in the last couple of years besides JJ I'm ok with moving on and trying a new player. RunningThePiszOuttaTheBall
Injury settlement.I know, but was it a career ending injury? I never got that impression.
jaschart
I was shocked, but I'm still "in Quinn we trust" mode.

wleggett
On last year of contract and coming off leg injury then gets another. Maybe not progressing as well as they would like so did it to free up a spot. Edited September 6, 2015 by wleggett
Butudontseeme™
This isn't directed at the op, but I don't get why fans get so tore up about marginal players being kept, released, etc. Kroy over Maponga and Antone released isn't really a big deal. I hate that kroy is on the team but there is no point in bitching about it over and over and over again because "I don't like the decision". Everyone here outside of yo lover and db11 are of age where we should all be able to move on from players rather quickly. Unfortunately that's not the case

Also Ward is not a threat. He's like the minion version of Turner.

He's like the minion version of Turner. At this point if Willy Mo misses any significant time this year, yea I think we should cut him and try and get a long term replacement. I love him as a player but it took him a year after we drafted him to stay healthy enough to play and he has been really spotty health wise since. For me anyway he has no more leeway health wise
jaschart
Frankly, I'm glad Smith is gone, solely because it should scare the **** out of everyone else on the roster. Nobody saw that coming.

We've got a ton of depth at receiver. Carlton Mitchell looked fabulous Thursday and he was just cut.
Psychic Gibbon
Smith is flashy, but Smith also has zero versatility. Unless he gets the ball outside and in open space then he is useless.

He's like the minion version of Turner.I wouldn't cry if Willy was gone. I like him but I can't stand his injury bug. He'll probably be better in this system than the previous one though. For Willy to re-assert his value, he needs to play well this year, stay healthy, and be the attitude of the secondary.

I want him to retire a falcon myself but I don't want him to play beyond his use.

That's what I mean, he's not somebody with 5 career touchdowns that's more-or-less a "Rudy" type.

It's just another example of fans getting to attached to players in regards of feelings being hurt if he doesn't leave the team on his own. Even if he was traded or released today he would hit the roh within the next 5 years. I say that because he more than likely won't be in the league in 5 years

FalconAge
I've accepted Antone being gone, but it sucks that you guys are lumping a guy who scores about every 6-7 touches with nobodies. Scoring long TDs may be a one-dimensional trick, but its kind of a useful one.

B_Lo_Touchdowns
Funny how people are saying it's because he's injuried and can't stay healthy but yet we have Brooks Reed who is coming off a season ending injury and hasn't played one single snap this season penciled in as a starter.
