In What Ways Have We Regressed This Offseason?

Man I'm getting pumped for this season! 164807_119551704779056_1621159_n.jpg?oh=

We all know teams change every offseason, sometimes for the worse (See: 49ers), sometimes for the better (See: not the 49ers). Comparing our team to last years, it seems like it's easy to point out the improvements:

-energizing and determined coaching staff

-much improved D-line

-several decent FA's to shore up the LB/DL positions

-Trufant's only getting better, improving his INTs

-a decent TE group

-a promising rookie RB

-more quality WR's than we know what to do with

But what are some ways this team has regressed? Or have they at all? Looking it over, it's hard for me to point out anything negative. Maybe the OL has gotten worse? Possibly, but I doubt it. At the very least they've stayed the same. If they stay healthy, and the addition of Levitre, it can't be worse then last years. Maybe the secondary has gotten worse? Outside of Trufant, I could certainly see that, but there's no concrete evidence I can think of, except maybe Collins. I think it's easy to get hyped for this season, and honestly I want some of you football experts to bring me back to Earth.

I'm hoping we are not as good at letting teams stay in games or take back the lead in the 4th quarter. I'm also hoping we're not as good at giving teams first downs on 3rd and long.

Being serious, I think we'll have more penalties and probably give up more return yardage on punts. The way Bosher is booming them this Preseason, I suspect the previous regime coached him to get more hangtime and less distance to get the other team to fair catch more. In Preseason, I don't know if it's part of the attitude of the team, but it definitely seems like they are taking the approach that they want him to kick the crap out of it like they're wanting or even daring the other team to try to return it.

My only concern is the O line.... Feel a little better after our trade today for at least one place on the OL. I hope we get one or two more OL.. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link.. I'm afraid we still have a link or two in the OL that needs addressing, I don't think we're done there just yet, or at least I hope not.. A little concern in that one area only.... but applaud the move today to fix our only weakness.... emot-golfclap.gif

The only place we could have gotten worse in my opinion is special teams. It's the only place we excelled last year. But even there I'd say we are the same.

not all of it

last year they had A. Smith and Weems

this year they will have A. Smith Weems and Bradford

ah ****. I thought it was during a game.

It was admittedly speculative. I just know what before Quinn was even hired, he called up Trufant and started explaining to him how he could improve at intercepting the ball. I heard Trufant worked his butt off to improve his catching this offseason. Hopefully it translates to the regulars season as well.
