sanfranfalcon
Boy, if Aso did wind up the starter, Quinn would have a legendary poker face.truth!
Sun Tzu 7
Vaughn McClureESPN Staff Writer Falcons veteran right guard Jon Asamoah, who lost his starting job to Chris Chester, was not on the field or in uniform for Thursday's night final preseason game against Baltimore. When reached by phone Thursday night, Asamoah said, "Man, I can't even talk about it right now." The Falcons did not announce a roster move and could be trying to trade Asamoah. http://espn.go.com/espn/now?nowId=21-0431243957104547369-4Why not? I mean we're loaded on the oline, right? FentayeJones
I couldn't see Quinn having a falling out with a player, especially one as highly regarded as Asamoah. But I could see it happening with Shanahan. Shanahan seems nice enough, but considering what I mentioned before, I could see bad relationships developing.Edit: Keep in mind this very broad speculation. Very likely this is not what happened.I mean as a player in this scheme, not personnaly... he did bench him afterall
Califalcon0013
Probably didn't like the fact that he has to compete for the starting job against "lesser" or unproven players
WOR
Asamoah has a right to be upset imo. He went from our best lineman last year to barely playing. And it sounds like they won't let him go either. He's basically wasting a year of his career here.

WOR
So Lucrative though....Oh absolutely lol. He's kind of like Alex smith. Imagine if the miners just made him be kaps backup? They ate a lot of money for Blalock cause he didn't fit. But now Asa is just a backup that can't get playing time? Makes no sense.
AndySG
He is still the best guard we have.

TheRisen999
There has to be something going on we don't know about for them to keep him off the field. It may be that they actually have confidence in him and know what they are getting when he suits up. I just don't see this staff being petty with players. I do however hope they cut Palumbus and add more depth after this next round of cuts. That guy was awful last night.
pzummo
Didn't Quinn mention Asamoah was out because of a hip injury?
madman88
Maybe he just isnt playing that good yall.. stop making excuses for the man.. this is what competition looks like. Things you cnt explain happens, prime ex
JDaveG
If he's hurt, then sitting him for a few games will help. So maybe best case scenario is Asomoah gets healthy by week 3 or 4 and takes a starter's job.

Everybody screamed we need more competition and no sacred cows but when a fan favorite gets outplayed and benched everyone freaks out. Do folks really think Quinn is benching this dude for no reason? maxatlanta
There's more going on than that. Because he has outplayed the other OGs on the roster during the preseason games. Go ahead, someone try to make the case that Person or Stone has looked better.

maxatlanta
there are a couple of guys right above you that can make that case, since he got outplayed & benched, just like he did in St. LouisNo. Because Asomoah was our top rated OL the first 3 games. And Stone and Person have been getting tossed like rag dolls.
