Seems like the previous regimes obsession about mistakes took it's toll.

Julio's comment was revealing, but honestly Matt's tone seemed a little wistful. I think he and Smitty developed a close bond. I remember how jubilant Ryan was after the Saints game week 16. At that point it was obvious that Smitty's career rested on beating Carolina and one reporter asked Ryan about the upcoming game and how it might save Smitty's career and he seemed to really care, gave a sincere response, almost a little choked up it seemed.

I want to point out that I'm glad Smitty's not our coach anymore but it's interesting to see how close Ryan was to Smitty. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Smitty was aware the Ryan had a lot to do with his success.

They may have some kind of bond, but Ryan doesn't throw anyone under the bus, ever. He doesn't talk negatively about anyone, ever. He could get jumped at a club and afterwards be like "Yea, they got some good hits in, they're obviously experienced at that kind of thing and I just gotta be ready in case it happens again."

Have you let the Julio contract go?

I'm just posting what was said. I think the dynamic between the current regime and previous regime is important in setting expectations for the future.

You understand sarcasm, right? 'twas blatantly obvious

Also, why bring up the Julio contract in a thread where there's no relevance? Don't see the need

come on man dont be a jerk. its a touching photograph. is this franchise really in the position of complaining about how the previous staff could have done better, when before them we had never even posted back to back winning seasons? could Smitty and crew have done better? maybe, and certainly in the final two years, but it was the best run the franchise ever had and THEY are the ones that set the expectations high. all i know is im positive we could have done a **** of a lot worse, and when quinn leads us to a super bowl others might forget the ones that paved the way, but i wont.

im honestly ashamed of some of the things i said about smitty in the previous two years out of frustration. we might not could have gone all the way with him, but there's something to be said about how far he's taken us!

Once again, that was another "tongue in cheek" remark. You really think I'd be serious about the two of them sharing a Nicholas Sparks style kiss on live TV? No...

I certainly appreciate all that Smitty did as a coach, and as a person he's a class act, but it was time to move on. Let it be clear that our remarks about Smith were about Smith the coach, not Smith the person
