When did we sign Ben tate and Chris long O.o? Also you have too many linebackers and not enough offensive linemen

I added them to shore up positions with questionable depth. Reports are showing that we are still interested in Long and we may sign him with the injury to Polumbus and Holmes going on PUP. We haven't yet been connected with Tate but he is a scheme fit and I would roll the dice at the vet minimum. Hopefully he doesn't have to step on the field but I think he would be a nice signing for insurance for our young runners.

the final 53 is supposed to be your prediction not your "if I was a GM then here is my plan" ... right?

if they wanted ben tate, he'd already be here. He's not going to be happy here splitting carries in shannys offense if he wasn't happy doing it last year in shanny's offense.

but it's your 53, you're more than welcome to post up whomever you want. with that in mind...

I'm going out and getting clevelands center, Eddie Lacy and Demarco murray, dallas's tackles and guards, Richard Sherman and Kam chancellor, Kalil Mack, and suh for the defense, and I'll add Aaron Rodgers as my backup QB, since we all know he's done that before......

Went and looked the roster page and counted 45 no brainers. The rest I don't really care about. The coaches will have to choose from the pile of poo.

I'm the exact opposite..seems like getting under 56 will be very tough. there's going to be a couple of hero's getting called to the office

Nick Williams as the #6 WR

the #6 WR will be the number 11 target

5 WRs, 2 RBs, 1 FB, 2 TEs-----10 in front of him

Rather have Weems there for his ST play

Other posters have said that Shanahan likes to carry only 3 RBs (in the past)

You bring up a good point but Williams has had a very good camp and pre-season by most accounts and you know that Weems upside is as a ST'er. Why not keep the lower cost player who may eventually develop into a complementary receiver. One of my biggest pet peeves over the past several seasons is that we didn't turnover the bottom of our roster enough. Keep Williams and if he doesn't cut it, pickup a guy off another teams PS. As you mentioned the bottom 6-8 players may not ever see the field, we need to keep turning them over until we find some keepers.

My predictions below (edited the nice list Game Blouses had put together). This is what I expect, not necessarily what I want. Goodman and Maponga both still have practice squad eligibility, and I think they're fighting for the same roster spot.

Whichever one doesn't stick on the Final 53, we'll probably try to hide on the PS. I chose to keep Maponga and stash Goodman, because I think Maponga would be more likely to be "poached" given his performance so far this preseason. It's the same reason I kept Bartu on the 53 and stashed Starr.

And I think Southward is gone, for good... won't make the 53, won't be asked back to the PS.

I don't think Goodman is PS eligible

2 of the 10 players on the practice squad can have two years of NFL accrued experience. That means anyone drafted in 2013 (Goodman, Maponga, Bartu, etc.) is technically eligible for the PS, no matter how many games they have started the past two seasons.

They would immediately become ineligible as soon as they played in one game this season, though.

As far as I'm concerned the roster will be

QB: Ryan
RB: Free, Teco, Smith
WR: JJ, Roddy, Hank, Hardy, Hester
TE: Tamme, Lolo, Moeaki
OT: Matthews, Schraeder, Rodgers,Polumbus
OG/C: Hawley, Stone, Chester, Person, Asa

FS: Allen
SS: Moore, Ish
CB: Tru, Alf, Adams, Collins
OLB/LEO: Durant, Reed, Scho, Vic, Map
ILB: Worr, Bradford
DE: Jackson, Clayborn
DT: Hage, Soliai, Jarrett, Babs

And then our 3 special teamers obviously. That's 44 that seem to be locks right now.
Battles will be
Rex v Renfree at QB. Though they both may make it depending on how many QB's we want.
Williams v Weems at WR. I love Willaims but I'd go with Weems at this point.
Dimarco v Mooney at FB. Still not sure who I think is better of these two.
Therezie v Godfrey for FS. I think the former is probably going to win this one, but they may swing for the veteran because of Allen's newness to the position.
White v South v Howard. This may be for either one or two spots, again depending on how many DB's we keep overall. I like White the most out of the three, but South should also be kept around one more year to see if his incredible measurables can materialize in the new position, imo.
Starr v Kroy at SAM/ LEO. I like Starr better, but you never know.
J. Smith v Goodman v Akunne v Bartu v Mbu v Stupar v King v *Insert other bubble roster player* Fighting for between 1 and 3 spots, variant upon the aforementioned battles at CB and QB. Total crapshoot so I won't bother trying to pick any, we'll lose some decent role players here though. Guys like Smith, Akunne and Mbu could be put on the PS without much worry though.
