Interesting Development For Falcons V. Eagles: Qb's Knees Are Fair Game On Read Option

Recommended Posts

That wasn't even a hard hit. If he seriously wanted to end Bradfords career he could have. Nobody around the league is saying it was dirty or malicious. I'm only seeing that on this board and from fans. That doesn't even look like a malicious hit. He really could've plowed him if he chose. 100% direct hit to the knees. Instead he lead with his shoulders as they are taught to do. As much as I've seen Matt Ryan get tackled by his legs and didn't cry foul this is no different. I know what a malicious hit looks like. That wasn't it.

I seriously don't think players are really trying to "end a career". But they do intend to play hard and with mean intentions meaning to inflict pain but not to blatantly end a career. They all have to think about that. Guys have gone at Suggs knees on cut blocks before. It wasn't to end his career tho. If feel if it's getting to the point where you can't just be a nasty football player then the soft guys should get out of the game. Brett Favre never complained about hard playing guys. He'd get up, tell em good hit, get in their face a little bit and proceed to kill them the next play. THATS a football player.

That's your opinion and you're welcome to it, but like I said. Legal or not, no one will ever convince me Suggs wasn't trying to end Bradford's career. That hit was Dirty.

I think Suggs saw a chance to do some damage and he took it.

From what Chip said it wasn't a read option but rather just a hand off out of the shot gun. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

OK, I am completely off the Chip Kelly FanWagon. That is some MAJOR B.S. right there. At EVERY angle, it is clearly zone read all the way. Bradford has both arms extended on the hand off, the exact zone read look that allows the QB to make a decision during the the "mesh". His eyes are RIGHT on Suggs, the End, as he is making the hand off.

Kelly can go F himself fort that kind of crype.

I'd have to say it looked like a zone read too. I'm just curious how it will be defined in the future. It could be argued that any hand off from the shot gun becomes a zone read. Only time will tell.

You know if it's read or not. A hand off is a hand off and the qb isn't reading the end. He just hands it off. You can actually see him reading Suggs telling if it's a read or not. And if you're known as a read option team it's obvious when you're reading the end. It may have them revisit in the near future but an option team is definitely obvious with their reads.

Chip Kelly has been a bad liar in the past.

Besides that, the tackle wasn't even that serious. He just wrapped up his legs with his right arm, so I don't understand why some are crying foul. It was clearly a zone read though, but Kelly (and this isn't new) figures he can insult our collective intelligence and get away with it.

Exactly!! It's not even a hard hit. He basically just wrapped him and spun him down. Bradford, philly fans, and a few on our board is the only ones crying foul.

While i agree that it wasn't necessarily a dirty hit. That doesn't mean there wasn't a little bit of ill intent by Terrell. He's a great Badass mean defender. He's also smart tho, and I agree that if he wanted to injure the guy he would've and could've.

Also, discussion amongst fans has been back and forth. Over on reddit there are fans who feel both ways for sure.

That's exactly what I said. I said he plays with Intent. Meaning to inflict pain but not to be malicious or dirty. EVERY defensive player plays with intent. I've wanted a Nasty defense in Atl for YEARS. And now we seem to have one. This is a violent game. It's meant to be played with nasty intentions. But you can be mean n nasty without being malicious. Do you know how many linebackers and DE's and safeties that tried to take my head off???? Trust me, I know this game inside out. But I welcomed it because if I caught you slipping I was gonna embarrass you. Now I'm not saying there aren't guys that may want to end a career. There certainly was in the 60's and 70's but rules have protected players from those kind of intentions. I will also say that players DO want to know Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan, Drew Brees, Brady, Manning out of the game. Who doesn't want the best player off the field. But they're NOT trying to end his career.

I got no argument for that. When it all boils down, Anybody would want Suggs on their team. I don't care who you are.

This is what the Ravens did to the Niners in the Super Bowl. They hit Kaep every time they ran the read option it seemed

The Ravens put #7 in the hospital one preseason. Ever since then I've hated to play them in preseason even if there were brothers in law HCs. I suspect them of bad intentions.

Absolutely. It's like you can't play both sides of the fence. He's a dirty player in another uniform but if he bleeds red n black he's beloved. I used to hear falcons fans hate on warren sapp all the time but my attitude was always "I'd take sapp any day of the week in a falcons uni". I love mean n nasty players. That's the excitement and identity of your team. Wouldn't you love if our defense was

Dline Deacon Jones, Warren Sapp, Donkey Kong Suh, Lawrence Taylor

LB's Junior Seau, **** Butkis, Ray Lewis

CB Deion Sanders and Lester Hayes

Safeties Ed Reed And Jack Tatum

That's one of the meanest nastiest defense ever. Lol. But I would LOVE if that was our D.

I actually had Mel Blount first but I went with two pick machines. Ronnie Lot for Tatum definitely. But just imagine that? ALL of those guys would be dirty players in today's nfl, minus, Deion and Ed. Wow!!

Oh boy that's just a awesome to imagine. That would be the all time bully team. Offenses would literally FEAR that defense in every sense of the word.

Yep. Now do you think our fan base would mind those guys? Even tho they'd be making the same type hits we're talking about with Suggs? I don't think so. We'd love it.

I always wanted to have Lott on our side of the ball with Scott Case. WRs and (Roger Goodell) would be cowering in fear. I idolized Butkus and Nitchske as a kid, from watching them late at night on NFL Films.
