There's outs in any and every contract. It's not inconceivable that MB would keep naming rights to two stadiums simultaneously but if they did want to get out of the sewerdome (and who wouldn't) I would bet money that there is some kind of buyout that they can do to exit that place.

with MB US headquarters here in atlanta, it just makes sense for them to occupy the biggest, baddest sports and entertainment complex in the southeast

Absolutely hate it.

Nothing about it has Atlanta or Georgia in it.

Benz basically tramp stamped the stadium putting big Benz logos on it everywhere.

Not to mention the Saints still have Mercedes as well.

Epic fail on the true to atlanta front. Huge win in the pay off your debts front.

2 years before open + 25 years in new stadium... Even Mercedes knows that Stadium won't last 30 years... Mercedes guy says that they might rethink the Saints deal...

actually what he said was at the time they bought the rights to the toilet bowl in NO, there wasn't even the thought they'd move here, much less have their names on two stadiums in the same division and that they will deal with "that" when the time comes. I personally think the time has come.

If they have the naming rights, can't they just change the name over there? put a secondary brand name on it. Maybe they can sell their rights to tidy bowl or some other company like that thing that turns the water blue every time you flush. Should be something to reference going dark right in the middle of taking care of business..........

their US headquarters moved here this summer, so does that not qualify for having something Atlanta in it? They are new to Atlanta but they'll be here for years to come. I for one welcome our new mercedes logos. Could have been something boring like Southern Company or Home Depot, you should be happy

Not sure why all the uproar around their sewerdome sponsorship. they upgraded to the new hotness, if anything it's a slap in the face to the saints organization. but they don't care either because they're getting paid too, for now

that was asked by one of the reporters, the response was "it's part of the GEORGIA world congress center, anyone who doesn't know where that is we'll give them a map".......that was nathan deals response, which shouldn't be surprising

I agree on the basis of Mercedes growing with Atlanta, but after Arthur Blank spoke so confidently of how the stadium would be an Atlanta icon and how it would represent the city, slapping Mercedes Benz all over the exterior and naming it Mercedes Benz Stadium definitely takes away from the Atlanta connection.

Let's face it, it will probably take all 27 of those years before anybody truly starts associating Mercedes with Atlanta. This was purely financial with no regard for the city of Atlanta.
