Clarity on Roddy White's elbow injury upcoming from Falcons

The elbow injury Atlanta Falcons receiver Roddy White suffered last week could be a cause for concern.

The team didn't provide many details about the injury, which sidelined White from the second preseason game against the New York Jets. Although the initial word seemed to imply nothing significant, the fact that White experienced swelling might indicate the need for a procedure or extended rest.

The team said White's elbow flared up last Thursday after a light practice without pads. It's unclear which elbow he hurt or if contact resulted in the injury.

Falcons coach Dan Quinn is scheduled to address the media Sunday afternoon, meaning he'll likely address White's status, if there's an update to provde.

As the 33-year-old White approaches the start of his 11th NFL season, his health will indicate what type of impact he has on offense. White reported to training camp a few pounds lighter than normal, but he also had his left knee drained during minicamp, a procedure he expects to have again midseason. White wears a compression sleeve to protect the knee.

It's hard to speculate if White will miss time with the elbow injury. He's battled through injury before and once had a streak of 133 consecutive games played. If White can play through the pain, he will.

But if the elbow injury leads to White missing the start of the season, the Falcons appear to have full confidence in newcomer Leonard Hankerson stepping into a complementary role alongside Julio Jones.

He will probly need Tommy John Surgery, which wll end his season. And he will be 35 next year. I dont think we will be seeing Roddy on the field again.

LMAO......... It's an elbow injury and you come up with this?.... White needs time off the field being the scrappy vet he is at his age..... He'll be suited up for the opener....
