Bring It
The Falcons have TWO completely different and separate teams......probably like most other NFL teams. 1) Our starting lineup, 1st string is Top 5 talent and production in the NFL. At least it looks that way early on. 2) 2nd thru 4th string.......NCAA Div.III at best. Abysmal in so many ways. Again, perhaps many other teams in the league fit this description but the drop off with the Falcons is amazing. No depth. If and when several key starters go down with injuries........goodbye post season.

Falcons did it last year with the starring defense against a teams #2's

Smith out, Roddy outYep this 1st string can't afford to lose any "key" StartersImo, missing those offensive starters and still having success against their defense is more promising than missing those defensive player against their offense. That's just my opinion. Jets offense is bad, especially at qb
jdawg4876
thats a great pt that a lot of our starters were already missing. babs is not suppose to start but he rocked it, Ish played great for moore, hankerson looks like a younger bigger roddy, and most likely two of our rbs are coming back next week. past that alford played really well against marshall and trufant will be back soon. starr, bradford, thezi (sp),maponga all flashed as well. as units the back ups sucked but we got some good depth at some positions. I do think we nee to bring in another qb and a swing tackle rather that be jake long or whoever, past that Im very happy. ps I hate bartu but even he played well last night. also how can I forget nick williams, he is making a very strong push Edited August 22, 2015 by jdawg4876

MAD597
We need more depth on OL and a better backup QB. At this point these are our only huge weaknesses. These issues greatly effect how we look in pre season games. But keep in mind though last night we were missing 7 starters, so our second team was pretty much in reality our 3rd team and so on. peoriabird
do you even know what you're talking aboutYep...I'm talking about so called football fans of this team that didn't realize we had 7 key players out in the 1st quarter. They also didn't realize that the 1st quarter prove the exact opposite of lack of depth.

Our backups that we usually have injuries on were already starting. The only depth we lack is on the Oline and 3rd stringers. All our 2nd stringers are pretty good when thrown into the mix with the 1s

Don't know if you actually watched that line and qb play after the first quarter but he has a point. You probably got upset when someone said this the last 2 seasons as well. Gotta pull those h shades off sometimes

Good and valid point. I'm hoping for a MIRACLE Season. A season where we have no significant injuries. A miracle I know but Lord, wouldn't it be nice to see, just once, what could happen ??? I think that we have tremendous depth at most defensive positions, receiver and tightend...adequate depth at runningback. So I strongly disagree with his statement and frankly find it asinine! JDaveG
If you figure we have 90 players on the roster now, and 7 starters out, and we have to cut to 53 before the season, that means of the folks who played today, the first team was drawn from 46 of the 53 likely finalists for the roster. And that means the 2nd team was using guys (Beasley, Hawley, etc.) who are projected as starters, but ALSO guys who were starting with the 1st team who are NOT projected as starters (Adams, Ward, etc.). And this in turn means that our depth is a whole lot better than it looks from just watching the game. For example, if Tru goes down and Adams steps in, we know the team can excel. We won't ever have all the backups on the field at the same time. The biggest concern I have is o-line depth. If we lose a key starter there, we can shuffle the pieces a bit, but really the backups are terrible, and the starters (I'm looking at you James Stone) look worse playing with the backups. A lot of stuff goes into that, and Ryan and a good run game can mask those problems, but if we start losing o-line pieces again we're going to have problems. Beyond that, I think our depth is fine for the most part.
