Some Notes From The Jets Game

Recommended Posts

Wow, the Falcons looked pretty good tonight. Here are some thoughts and observations (I stopped at the point the Jets put in their 2nd string QB).

1. Adrian Clayborn!!! He is a force of nature. Got a sack by himself, knocked down a pass, caused a hold. Dominant.

2. Beasley! The Jets defender is still frozen on the field right now from that spin move. And he knocked down a pass as well.

3. Babs!!! Wreaking havoc.

4. Our special teams look fantastic. Hester is dynamite - we knew that. Bosher went crazy with the 60+ yarders. Our coverage looks great too. Allen Bradford was excellent on special teams (though he struggled on defense).

5. O line worries -- we saw some good plays from them. But: Chris Chester had a terrible play on Yates first play -- he singlehandedly caused the sack just as much as if he would have turned around and sacked Yates himself. Then, Stone gave up the safety singlehandedly with a horrible play.

And our 2nd string O line was so awful that we really have no idea whether Yates or Renfree are any good or not.

6. Alford had a bad game. Gave up a penalty that converted a 3rd down for them, and didn't do much else.

7. Hardy does not appear to be living up to the hype we've been hearing about him. He was mostly a non-factor and had another drop.

In a nutshell:

* The defense looks greatly improved, especially the line

* The O line is cause for serious concern

* Special teams look like a major strength

I sure hope the O line can pull it together. I think it's time for Evan Mathis or *something*.

The o-line wellthe starters in the 1st QTR looked good to me.

I mean we punched it in from the 4 with Ward and there was a huge hole.

The d-line a youmentioned looks greatthere getoff is as advertised.

Babs is going to go close to defensive MVP on this team he looked great last week and its just a continuation for me.

Yeah, I agree with that. But you gotta remember most of the starting O line stayed in after Ryan left. Chester and Stone both had those bad plays, and both are starters.

Plus, with Ryan in the game, most of our offense was Colin Mooney smile.png and Hester (on the punt return).

Beasley drew a mean double team on clayborn sack and still got close to the qb. Clayborn was credited the sack but he definitely didn't do it alone, at least from what I saw

I think you're giving Beasley too much credit there. Beasley had a great game overall. And you're right, he did draw a double team there and still caused a little havoc.

But Clayborn tossed his blocker aside and just crushed the QB.

Sure, if you want to give Beasley some credit, it was 90% Clayborn, 5% Beasley, and 5% the rest of the D line.

Not giving Beasley too much credit at all. Without Beasley's pressure that double team likely shifts to clayborn. Clayborn didn't do it by himself

It's like I told you last week. Anytime a player draws a double team he leaves a team mate in a 1 on 1 and that player should win his matchup. That's the whole point of having a player that forces a defense to try and take him away. If teams keep double teaming beasley Clayborn will have a helluva year. They look to be a great tandem. Either clayborn will be doubled or Beasley will. They will be similar to Sapp/Rice in Tampa

depends on how you look at it. You say he did it all by himself I say Beasley played a nice role drawing the double team. Just depends on how you wanna look at it

It's only one way to look at it. If Beasley gets doubled the plan is for clayborn or hags or babs or jax or whoever is next to him to win his 1 on 1. It's football 101
