mashburn*Fibonacci
if y'all remember when I tried saying how having one Running back with over a 1,000 yards was better then multiple guys who just got 600 yards. and I was wrong when it was all totaled up together..... well I got to thinking. what happens when the falcons do this with Freeman/Coleman? Because y'all now look like y'all will be pushing ingram like we did Turner and forgetting who else there is. I don't see ingram breaking a 1,000 this year.nor do I see Spiller breaking over 500..... Just my opinon of truth. ..... now let me put this up first. just so you children don't go saying lookie at my ring. :P
Rave
I saw a Shango video the other day that really opened my eyes to running game debates. The running game really isnt about yards. Its about having the ball with 5 min left knowing that the opponent wont see the field again. Its about converting 3rd and short on a consistent basis. These things make up a great running game, not just yards. Rave
Munky/mash, they are not doing this by choice they do have some injuries. Btw, Ingram has never had 1000 yards.Has NO ever had a good/great Oline?

LOL. we shall see what these saint fans think. and I cannot remember the last time they had a single RB who posted over 1,000 yards with them...... for the record

Falconcheff
I don't remember that, nor does it matter if the Saints are winning gamesBut they won't without a heavy running game this year... they'll need to control the clock to keep offenses from exposing your defense, like ours last year. I'll just let it play out first, if they don't win then I'll have no problem saying you were right, but as for now no one in here knows what will happen or how it will happen this season. I'm not predicting the Saints to be world beaters by any means, but I'm not buying into they're doomed after one PS game or some practices either. Everything for Saints offense hinges on the oline, not the backs

meezy0236
See, if you believed in your running game, you'd have never let me get away with that...It's not about letting you get away with anything lol, it's about I don't know what to expect from a revamped oline, just like it probably is for the Falcons. The running game will go as far as the line take them, if they're still a cluster, then I expect more of the same as last season. If they are truly improved, then i expect the offense to be as potent as it once was.

meezy0236
I am not sure it won't be efficient but I always question whether Payton believes in a running game. He starts to use it then he goes to the pass when the first sign of trouble arises. I just think it is his within his nature and what he feels comfortable with. The Saints should never be too far away from they're strength, which is passing the ball obviously, what the Saints always strive for (or should I say should strive for) is balance. If the running game is working, then they can maintain a healthy mix of run and pass even if they still end up throwing it more than they run it. Like I said earlier, it will all depend on the oline and how effective they are.
meezy0236
I praised the saints when they had balance (as much as I mock the team) yes, praised them. That is also when they were at their very best much to my dismay and chagrin, and they won it all...Sorry, I get sick when I admit that...I agree, and I also agree with the point that Payton doesn't stick with the run game as long as he should sometimes, and it has haunted him in some seasons. So, like I said I guess we'll see what happens

meezy0236
meezy, how are your rookies looking this year? The rookies are a work in progress, Peat has struggled, but has shown flashes of his potential. He's more than likely a couple seasons away from living up to expectations.Anthony will be thrown to the wolves early, he will be leaned on to provide the LB presence this team has lacked for years. Now, so far he seems to be pretty decent, but he stills needs tons of work on his coverage skills and teams will test this a lot at the beginning of the season. As for the rest, it's really a mixed bag, some UDFA have the potential to make the team, while guys like Grayson will get to learn from one of the best before he's really needed. meezy0236
Meezy, do you think Cooks will step up this season? The saints really need him after losing JG and Stills!Yes, i believe Cooks will have a big year, his number will be called early and often. If Spiller can provide the kind of threat we are hoping, then those two should limit the effects of losing JG and stills, but then not being there will definitely be missed. Aquietguy
Meezy, do you think Cooks will step up this season? The saints really need him after losing JG and Stills!I disagree. We have more than enough weapons. Some of which made both Graham and Stills expendable. Payton had faith in Coleman and Jones. Even Sneed will be fighting for a job. So far he's been right. Again, Brees can throw to anyone.
