Rave
I went to throw something away and accidentally stepped on a friend's foot. She was quite mad as it was her "bad foot". I had no idea. Yet she realized it had been an accident and let it slide. However, another co-worker, who is 19 and 16 years my junior, said "what is wrong with you".I responded, "its not like I was looking down, saw her foot, and stepped on it on purpose."She responded by asking if I was getting an attitude with her. I told her "yes, you frustrate the **** out of me." (I mean, it was not her place to 1) jump into a situation that she was not a part of and 2) talk down to me like Im a child, she obviously has no respect for those older than her)She then asked if I was mad and claimed that she had only been joking. When I remained offended she said "uh, white people."This is not the first time Ive encountered this either. At one of my old jobs I was called the "N" word. I told the person who said it that I was offended by that and would rather not hear them say it in any reference around me. She asked me "why are you offended, you're white."How is this ok? Willy Mo
This is so saddening, white people have it so hard. How dare someone get frustrated and angry when a white man steps on their friend's foot. How dare someone make a joke about the white man being offended. However, once I lose my temper all bets are off. When it comes to football Im an ***. I know that, but its mostly all in fun.

You have already proven that when you sided with the offender not the offended, in a racially charged issue just because the offended was white.I have nothing else to say. However, I will leave the thread open to whatever you and your pals want to say.Ive made my point though. You are not even close to being for equality. Rave
all i got from this is that you have some serious social problemsYeah, I have to social problem. Because I should be ok being called the "N" word.I should also think it is ok for someone to be rude to me, and I shouldnt be upset if that person is a different color from me.You know, Im white, so its ok, right? Its only racism when its white on black, racism cant happen to white people. Right?I guess I do have it backwards. My bad, only whites can be racist. What was I thinking?I had you to pegged long time ago. Yet, somehow, you find the ability to look down on me. First off.It was no joke, she only said that after she saw that I got pissed off. I hardly ever say anything at work when I get upset about something, but that time I did. When she realized how offended I had become all of a sudden it was a joke then. However, how can you justify her "uh, white people" comment. How can you, someone that is supposed to be for equality and against racism as a whole, how can you not be offended by that on any level. If you are what you claim then you would be offended by ANYONE being racist to ANYONE.However, you have proven, beyond the shadow of a doubt, you have another agenda.Thank you. To make a comment like "uh, white people" is the exact opposite of this dream. This is what you two fail to realize. Its not about "the struggle" its about MLK's dream.True equality is when we no longer judge anyone, on any level, by their skin color. If you dont understand that, then you dont understand the Civil Rights movement at its core. You will never admit to being wrong, and when people call you out for this, you cry about it and lock threads. This story clearly shows you are not at all different in real life like you claim. You still are always looking for a reason to be a victim. Had that been said to me, I would have cracked back at her, laughed, and moved on with my day.Not run to the nearest forum crying for sympathy and using three words as some kind of example that white people have racial issues against them in 2015. This has got to be at least the 4th or 5th time this person has gotten an attitude with me for no reason.I was raised to respect my elders. A 19 year old is still a kid. Im 35 years old. There is no reason I should be talked to like a 5 year old by a 19 year old.If you would accept that kind of behavior then that is on you.I returned to my machine and kept working. Figuring ignoring her would make her shut up and move on. However, apparently ignoring her didnt give her the satisfaction she wanted so she had to make a reference to my skin color. Which I still dont know what that had to do with anything. However, I guess thats nothing to get offended about either.
Rave
"uh white people"mlks dreamgtfo of hereExplain to me how that is not judging me based on my race. Then explain to me how "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character" doesnt fit this discussion. As I said before, you like to paint me as ignorant, but if you dont see how that is a direct reflection of that statement, then you truly are ignorant.Apparently I got mad because Im white. You couldnt be more wrong. The two things I am most known for at work are my laugh and talking. I get along with most everyone on every shift I work on.The only person I dont get along with on my entire shift, is this little girl. She has an attitude with everyone though.Yet, you wont believe that, because you want to believe whatever misconceptions you have of me through the little interactions we have here.Just as an example, I went back to my old job today, I wasnt there 10 mins before I was asked if I could work 1 night a week to help them out.See, there is the real world, and then there is the internet. One day you will figure this out. Also, I will say this, if you havent figured out in the many years Ive been here, I dont always come across the way I want to. I have a problem finding the right words to express what I want to. I bet if I were to sit down and have a face to face conversation with most people on this board they would have a different opinion of me,However, I digress. So, judging an entire race, based on one person is a good thing? Also, how is ignoring someone that has offended you a bad thing? Rave
This was just an accident and honest mistake. Rave didn't mean to step on anyone's foot. What happens i you apologize profusely and ask repeatedly if they are okay and how truly sorry you are. Most normal people will accept that behavior 9 times out of 10, but there is always one in the crowd that was raised by wolves. Not much you can do in that situation but say your sorry and move on...just sayin'It wasnt the person that got hurt that was unforgiving. However, the one I got into it with has had an attitude towards me in EVERY interaction we have had since I started there. The first time I ever asked her anything I said "so, what was your number today", she responded, "none of your business".I laughed one day and she went into a rant about how no one should make me laugh because its annoying. Our line were all joking one day and I added a comment and she said "why did you say anything".Add in the "uh, white people" comment and it becomes clear the problem she has with me.
