Northwestern Players Denied Request To Form First Union For Athletes.

I was pretty sure this would go nowhere fast for the very reasons they outlined... most schools are public and something like this that legally can only benefit players at private universities would be an incredibly unfair practice. It will be interesting to see what the next move is but this is a big win for the NCAA.

this is far from over btw.. they didn't at all rule on whether the players were employees or not.. they basically said because they have no influence on state ran schools (which is well over 100) then they couldn't really couldn't approve it since you would have so little of the players in a union. http://www.laborrelationstoday.com/2015/06/articles/nlrb/student-athletes-continue-push-for-employee-status/

Oh it's definitely far from over. I hope they can find a way to make this happen and be both fair and honest across the board. Allowing players to get paid opens up an extremely lopsided potential for the top talent to become even more hoarded by the biggest programs.
