Falcon-Itus
In my opinion he is our best C, but I wonder if the coaches think he is so much better than our next options at G that it trumps the upgrades he brings over Hawley. Even so I think we lose the stabilizing input he brings to the line at C by holding the line(pun intended). Just have to have faith in the coaches I guess. JDaveG
I'd wager the coaches disagree with you regarding who is better at C.
ssippifalcon
I think he's looking good at guard and Harley at center. Maybe he's not as good at center in the ZBS. Liking that he's commanded a starting role though.
raysnill1
IMO Asamoah is our best OG, but this coaching staff knows what they want.
Dirtybird56
It appears he's #1 for the LG spot. Asamoah has been beat out by Chester for the RG spot, but I don't recall Asamoah getting any chances at LG this training camp. Weird the coaches haven't tried him out there. But Stone has looked solid thus far, quite pleased with his transition to the ZBS. I expected him to be the one lineman to struggle transitioning but if anything it may have accentuated his strengths. The big man can move
1989Fan
He is there because he is the 3rd best center, but coaches are sick of getting crying voice messages from R, so they had put him somewhere.
Dukeduke211
ASO WAS OUR BEST GUARD LAST YEAR. THE PAST.... NEW SCHEME, BETTER FITS, IT DOESNY MATTER HOW MUCH YOU MAKE... I LIKE IT..
DoYouSeeWhatHappensLarry
I interpret unexpected players working their way into the starting lineup as a positive thing. And I thought the protection in the first quarter or so was actually really strong. I'm rewatching tonight so that may change but I thought our OL looked decent...especially given the running back depth chart.Stone is there because the coaching staff likes what he's doing. Good for him. Maybe he earned it.

Pass protection was good and I liked what I saw from the run blocking. Talking solely OLine here. Tamme was beat bad twice iirc, on another Antone had a nice hole but couldn't get past the corner/safety blitzing off the left of the line. Hank missed his block once or twice. Got a lot to clean up but I like what I saw from the Oline Give it a couple of weeks and Freeman/Coleman back and we're gonna have a nice offense
ryanadonis
I love how people are still crying for Asamoah to start. It's like a conspiracy to the fans that Asamoah isn't the best fit for the ZBS Shanahan scheme. Yes Asamoah was a decent at best guard for KOETTER and the Falcons LAST YEAR, but since the Falcons made a change, he is not best for the team anymore. Asamoah can't move. He can block one on one fine but when it comes to him having the quickness and stamina to run this offense, he can't do it.I heard the great Scott Carasik say that this was just a motivation light up your butt move from the coaching staff to Asamoah so he can step his game up....... HA Yeah OK.... Keep believing that you mark. Edited August 17, 2015 by R_The_Great

ryanadonis
Jeanna @jeannathomas 35s35 seconds agoQuinn also says competition still going at center. Stone will work at guard and center. Will continue to try different combos. Nothing to see here folks. PLEASE NOTHING TO SEE HERE. Hawley won the starting Center Spot because he is Joe Hawley. Hawley does NOT have to compete for anything, I repeat, Hawley does NOT have to compete for anything in the NFL.
PHALCONABERNATHY
I wouldn't be surprised if Stone takes Center and Aso takes the spot at guard. I'm good with Stone at either, because obviously they want him in the starting lineup. My prediction isLT-MatthewsLG-Stone/AsamoahC-Hawley/StoneRG-ChesterRT-Schraeder

I actually was honest when a Falcons beat writer thought Mike Person was with the first string unit for the first touchdown drive vs the Titans. I am speaking the truth and it hurts everyone because they are desperately wanting their favorite hero Joe Hawley just get handed the center spot. BadMoonRising
one day I will meet these members of the unquestioning Joe Hawley fan club. Until then I know their out there just like big foot and the tooth fairy.
ATLFalcons11
Asamoah played well Friday so I expect him to eventually beat out Stone for the LG spot. Stone will be much needed depth for us tho.

I'd rather see Stone @ center for nowI agree, Hawley himself said he wasn't 100% and probably wouldn't be for the rest of the season so I'd rather see Stone at center. I think they play Stone at guard because if Hawley can play, he thrives at center and it's really the only position he looks good at to me.
