Yates Needs To Go....

Recommended Posts

I think the consensus from the other thread is this:

Because we need preseason qb's, Yates will be on the team until after the fourth preseason game. Then the smart move would be to cut him and free up his #3 qb roster spot for someone who's actually worthy of a spot. If we get into a situation where Ryan and Renfree both go down, Roddy can be an emergency #3 qb, and Yates can be resigned off the street any time he might be needed during the season, since he will not be picked up by anyone once we let him go...

The Yates hate continues. He isn't the most talented QB but hes still wearing the red and black for now. Im saving my dislike for cam newton, Jamies winston and drew Brees.

Great theory. And I fully support that.

But trust me I wouldn't be hating on Yates if he didn't suck so bad. I'd say it was an "off" performance.. but I have yet to see him on an "on" day.

I fully believe Renfree is gonna beat him out

I'd take Renfree >>>>> Vick as the backup in a heart beat

Vick's done. It's over. He isn't a viable NFL roster player anymore.

I think he still has something left, at least some hope that he could lead a team to a win under favorable circumstances. I'm cherry picking here but in two games last season Vick still performed decently. He had some bad games too, and his lack of preparedness as a backup cost them at least one game, but saying he's not viable anymore is going a little too far.

I still would have more confidence in Vick than either of the two backups currently on the roster. If Ryan went down, I would say season is over with Yates or Renfree taking over but if Vick were the backup I would still give us a fighting chance.

Why do people care so much about the back-up QB battle season after season, when we haven't had one start since 2009?

One bad hit and Ryan is down for the season. We would still like to be able to compete without him if need be. A good defense and solid running game and we can still compete with a decent backup, but with crap you can't make chicken salad.

and with a good defense and solid running game, yates has won a playoff game.
