Oldskooler
Offensive Line: pass blocking was very good (or Tennessee's pas rush is very very bad), but the run blocking was exactly what I expected. The fact that they opened zero holes is something we all better get used to. The ZBS does often take a year or so for the players to learn, and to learn what each other are doing. If the situation improves only incrementally this year, I won't panic. The real progress for the run blocking will be expected, DEMANDED, in the 2016 season.QB: If Matt Ryan goes down, we won't win a game. Not one Ryan-less game. Yates looked TERRIBLE. He doesn't even deserve to get Barkley'd.But it amuses me, so he gets Barkley'd anyway.RB's: Hard to tell what we have with the ones playing last night. No one looks good when they are getting eaten up at or behind the line of scrimmage. The only real takeaway is that Antone might need to go. No matter how explosive he is, he gets hurt every time he looks at a football.Rookies: Hardy had a rough start. Beasley didn't quit if he got blocked: hugely important to see consistently high energy. And when he did get pressure, he did make others look better without padding his personal stat sheet. Seems like a good team guy instead of a stat-diva.I have hated on Jalen Collins since we drafted him.He was burned more often than Waffle House toast.BUT!!! I saw the play he DID make, and it showed me he does possess one important mental ability: no memory for the last play.If he can learn how to actually play the position, he might be all right after all.Defense: I saw some Smitty Syndrome: got up early and then they seemed to coast. That was disturbing. I realize that the backups were in there, but shouldn't they be the hungriest to keep the pressure on and to light people up?In General: I got to watch some Falcons football, so all is right with my l'il world once more. FentayeJones
Defense: I saw some Smitty Syndrome: got up early and then they seemed to coast. That was disturbing. I realize that the backups were in there, but shouldn't they be the hungriest to keep the pressure on and to light people up?I would not call it Smitty Syndrome. After we got up early Quinn put in a lot of fringe players and UDFAs in so there was a significant drop off talent wise. I don’t know if you have been watching any other pre-season games but every team kind of looks the same in the 2-4 QTRS after your main guys come out. It’s all about evaluating players to see who makes the roster by then. Edited August 15, 2015 by FentayeJones
papachaz
I disagree with the smitty syndrome comment, I just think our backups are still just that bad when they're all on the field at the same time especially Edited August 15, 2015 by papachaz
