mashburn*Fibonacci
So I'm tired of these Homer reporters. Not a single one reporting the negative at camps. So don't take what I say to hard. Because it's only the negative. Alright? There no need in me reporting the nice stuff of a peanut butter and marshmallow sandwich. So..... Ryan today threw a horrible pick. I don't know if someone missed a route or what. But Ryan threw right to Alford over the middle (this is a problem and will be discussed more in a minute) I'm not liking the looks of o-line. Our run game is going outside and not up the middle. Sure it's a zbs. But come on, we need to make holes sometimes. -now this could be because Quinn is really coaching with our d-line as much as possible. And they are just awesome. Toilolololo..... Can we cut him? I'm sorry but he can't catch. He turns his body before securing the catch. He will only be used in the endzone if he makes the team. And please stop with the hype reporters, buddy is not a blocker. He never was and never will be. To long of arms (there is rarely a player that is different height/weight who can play positions outstanding.... To tall Jones, fridge, bus, but not a lot). And Toilolololo is not going to be a blocker. Yates. Decent actually. Looking better then what he did last year. Why no one is reporting this, I'm confused. Sure he had a few bad plays, but he has greatly improved. Coleman loves to change his mind. If he sees a hole blocked, he goes outside. While Freeman sticks to the game plan..... So take that how you want. Does Quinn want the one who causes a problem and does his own or does he want a guy who kisses your butt?... I say go with Coleman. Tamme .... Good guy. I think he will be the guy who is half of what Gonzalez was. Moeki ... Needs time. But better then Toilolololo. Antoine Smith.... Yeah negative here. I meant to take a picture of it. But you can see a difference in his calf muscle. I'm thinking he continued to work out his good leg, while he rested his other one.... Might be ok. But I see a problem with a decrease when he has to cut left (to his right) . So look for his power to be pushing to his right (going to his left side)..... Will a team figure that out mid season? Maybe. Therefore I don't see him being used much. And we are going to have threads on how Quinn is the new Mike smith with holding smith back yet again. Linebackers. Look good. They talk and sync nicely. Matt throws to the outside a lot..... But I feel with no Harry Douglas, that he was our true inside man. Hardy, Reed, weems are outside guys. The free agent hankerson is a inside guy, but I'm not seeing much use of him. And why we are not using Hester much confuses me. But he isn't getting a lot of time. And it confuses me. Because Collins doesn't look good.. Why we got him, I'm confused.. All it was, was rumors he was good if he stayed away from off the field problems. But hr just doesn't look good. Allen, I like. Good move to FS. Mooney? What the. No, just no. Can we get a fullback who is half way decent of mughelli? Can't be too much to ask? Again, no. So what's secure to me? SS, FS, QB, K, ST, TE, D-LINE, LB,...... areas that need a little help, CB (one decent man or play arenas or Alford. No collins). Rb/O-LINE, WR (SLOT),.... areas that are the only ones with depth, LB, D-LINE..... and that's it. One starter goes down on another position And we are going to have to play a slightly different scheme to help cover that spot. <<<<<-----scary, very scary. So a 10-6+ season and going to the payoffs are easily seen. But a few injuries to our starters and it can get ugly. Next year we will be really getting the team we need. It'll be the guys for depth and hopefully fixing the O-LINE, FB, maybe CB (though I feel Alford will be fine if they get to play more). TE, Again don't hate me. And I know this is a thread y'all are not going to like. But someone has to mention this stuff. And stop with the Homer/blind junk. mashburn*Fibonacci
Vaughn McClure said the same thing about Toilolo, said he doesn't think he's seen him a drop a pass all campSure he catches it. But watch what happens to him when someone is coming at him hard. He'll loose sight trying to pay to much attention to the hitter and loose that focus of catching the ball. I said the exact same thing about Kevin Cone. And look what Happened. (but he did finally start to learn, maybe this year he'll be better. And I'll be seeing him Wednesday and Thursday) But you learn to catch and secure, then make your move. You'll be good. And then later..... You learn basic instincts of being able to watch your hitter and make a catch. You never ever think you have basic instincts going into your rookie thinking you can do basic instincts in the nfl. (even Julio still makes sure he catches and then he explodes. I don't think we will ever ever see Julio do that. And if he does learn it, you better pay the man 20/year..... But truth is Julio is very very smart. Catching and securing are the wisest thing to do)

mashburn*Fibonacci
Nice write up Mash. Are you concerned about Ryan overall or just those inside routes? great question. And thanks for actually reading. I believe Ryan is clutch still. Could there be a down year for him in the making... Sadly I feel there is. But it's because there is not a single slot WR...... So to answer your question. It's the WR slot I see as the majority of the problem.
abcranford2
Yea Arenas isn't on the team anymore. And everybody else that has been attending say Yates looks like garbage??And matt always throws to the outside a lot.. Not a big difference there. Tamme should help Edited August 14, 2015 by abcranford2
midtownfalcon
I kind of tuned out when you asked why you aren't seeing Hester playing WR more but I will humor you and tell you its because he can't play the position. He never could and is waaaaay to old to be learning new tricks. He is possibly the best return man of all time and still has value in that capacity but he has never learned to run a route or catch on the move. I'm a Cane fan and have followed his whole career he simply can't do those things.

mashburn*Fibonacci
That can be said for more than half of the teams in the league. and???? That makes you feel fine? Half the kids today play video games and don't know how to get a job and live with their mom to take care of them...... But I'm sure the ladies are just going to be peachy that half the kids today suck, so I'm sure it's fine. (rolling eyes)
DurtyBurdz155
And with Jalen Collins, We knew that he would be a project when we drafted him. Just because he is struggling in camp, doesn't mean he isn't good. And the reason we aren't using Hester that much is because we simply have a handful of guys that are better. midtownfalcon
Good to hear the LB's are looking good...I'm terrified about those guys. That being said the reason the last two seasons have been so bad is due mostly to lack of depth (and coaching), it will take more than one offseason to fix that but to have two position groups with some decent depth is comforting vs the last couple of years where any and every injury was devastating. Like a tight endOh I agree. I would've liked to see us go linebacker in that situation but its all good. I like Collins and have faith that this staff can develop him. Like a tight endGot some bad news for you Fib....We did it earlier than the third.I personally like the pick as you can't have enough good corners in today's NFL and I expected him to struggle early on. It's exactly what the scouting report on him said would happen.
