datchrisb1
YES IT'S EARLY!To me its pretty simple, we are lacking in talent and the proper players for the system defensively up front and talent along the offensive line. This can also be considered a list of players to keep an eye on.1. Su'a Cravens LB (USC)- We run a 4-3 under, which really highlights two positions, the Weakside linebacker and the LEO. We have our LEO, we still need an athletic freak, guided missile type linebacker at the WILL. This is a need simply because this defense cannot function properly without the proper athlete at the WILL. The whole defensive front for the most part is assignment based as far as gaps, in most situations the only free/man up players will be the WILL and LEO, basically a 4-3 with 3-4 personnel. We need to add this type of piece to the defense. It was suppose to be Spoon but things didn't work out like that.2. Anthony Zettel DE (Penn State)- The thing about this defense is though it does use the 5, the type of players that play the 5 are really tweeners, who can play both the 1 shade and 5, or a traditional 4-3 end and 5 depending on the situation and the coaches philosophy. Zettel matches the second mold, a player who can play both a 4-3 end and a 3-4 end adequately. He's stout against the run and also has the athleticism to rush the passer.3. Le'Raven Clark RT (Texas Tech)- Need to add to the O-line. This has been an issue for us for quite a while, since the switch in philosophy putting more focus on the skill positions rather than the core of the team. In my opinion our offense was a better offense overall prior to the Julio Jones trade. With this change in philosophy, we need to add and continue to add the proper pieces. The good thing about the zone blocking scheme is the interior can be picked up later in the draft. Clark fits what we need in a RT.4. Adam Gotsis DT (Georgia Tech)- A bit of a project but I love the ahtleticism. Its essential that the 3 beats one on one match ups most of the time, and lives in the opponents backfield. He must be very disruptive in the middle in this defense. Babs is a free agent, Jarrett will develop, I think even Clayborn will give us a lot in the middle. Gotsis can give us great depth, and potential starting depth at this position. (Also considered Luther Maddy here, but I'm a huge fan, really couldn't see him being here despite the rankings)5. (Noise Gate)6. Dillon Gordon TE (LSU)- Get us a great blocking TE with good hands late in the draft. Shanahan loves the 21 personnel. Get ready for this team to start stock piling TEs while he is here.7. Sedrick Flowers OG (Texas)- Very good run blocking guard, not the best as far as feet but he could develop. hjerry
I could see Cravens, but really only if we were to move on from Moore, since I see him less as a Durant type, and more as a Kam Chancellor type.
Sponge
I have to let the college football season start so ESPN can hype up the players before I know who is who.

Penn State-white guy, no way (definitely BPA OL)3. 6'6 310 Rt would be a good pick4. He a little small and white, ]while playing at GT is a plus the only white guys at DT I liked at DT was Hall and roided out like late Kerney5. (Noise Gate) LOL6. 6-5 300 blocking TE to help out the Run game would be sweet.7. If Shanny is still here, I dont think he would pick him.I would love a good 320 lb Rg, like tre jackson, that we could have had this year. Not saying he is Justin Smtih, not trying to compare him, just SIMILAR to him, he can play anywhere in a 4-3, very stout against the run yet has the athleticism to provide a threat as a pass rusher. Smith started at end in Cinci, plays end in San fran, too different schemes but excelled at both. I think we could have SIMILAR capabilities in Zettel. Honestly the reason I didn't put more focus in the O-line is because I see them making some veteran moves on the inside in free agency, but like the thread initially says its too early too tell. Gotsis is the appropriate size for a 3. Again who cares what shade his skin is.

hjerry
Durant showed me some things Friday. I look at Cravens as something like a Lavonte David personally.I think he's a Telvin Smith/Shaq Thompson sort of player, a guy who not really either S or LB per se, but is best playing that hybrid role. I don't want to force him into one position. I'd rather use him at both as the situations dictate.

Bobby.Digital
Cravens would play SS in our system. Someone like Myles Jack would play Durants (WLB).

I was using him more as a comparison as to what type of player would play WLB in our system.

brown bomber
My 3 round mock right now:FA FS Tavon Wilson/Omar Bolden1. OG Nick MartinVery versatile on the O line and was a team captain. Hopefully he's good like his brother.2. OLB Darron LeeHas good speed and can cover and blitz well.3. TE Pharaoh BrownGood size for the position but more of a receiving threat than blocker. I'm hoping he falls to the 3rd b/c of the severe injury to his leg, but if not he will probably go 2nd rd.

Arkridge
I wouldn't mind at all if we got Su'a Cravens to be our Cam. Reggie Ragland from Alabama is a LB I'd love to be able to snag in the second. Dude is a beast.
