AndySG
I know that it's not directly related to is, but I would imagine we could be ONE of the teams keeping an eye out just in case. The number that people are quoting at the moment is $5.5 million. How much would you guys be willing to pay him (if anything)?
Tribal Chief
F it. Give it to him.
JayOzOne
I'd sign him if it were a two year deal. At age 34, I'd be hesitant to go beyond that unless most of the loot was in a signing bonus and it averaged to what he's asking.
g-dawg
I'd give him $5.5 million - for ONE year.
AndySG
I definitely would for a year, too. If nothing else you're getting a year of tutelage and mentoring for the younger guys.
madman88
Doing the math. With the players coming off injury, with the ?s on the entire line, giving more talent to the groip only helps..

Kaptain Krazy
For a one-year deal? Abso-freakin-lutely.For two years? Maybe, depending on the way the contract is structured. For more than two years? Nah.
egoprime II
Looking at our roster, every position group on the Falcons has been improved this offseason...except the O line. Sure Matthews and Schaeder will be better, but left guard is a major concern IMHO. In the past TD has thrown some big bucks at some very average players. Its really hard to believe that Mathis is not worth a two year deal at what he is asking for. Heck, both Baker and Blalock were scheduled to make more than that this season. I -know- Mathis is worth 5.5 million. TD needs to help fix the major mess he has made of our O line. Before Ryan gets hurt.
likeriver
All the Evan Mathis coverage is tied to the Dolphins. I can't tell if they're close to a deal or if reporters in Miami just got carried away.
FentayeJones
I heard the Dolphins really want him but don’t want to pay him the 5.5 mil he’s asking for. That may be the case with most teams interested since he is still unsigned. Edited August 7, 2015 by FentayeJones
Free Radical
5.5 a year for for two years. Absolutely.
Lornoth
For only a year or two, i'd be tempted. If he wants long term with lots of guaranteed, not so much.
Vandy
Assuming he's healthy, heck yeah I'd do it.
Dirtybird56
Bring it to 5 a year for 2 years I'd do it
Macintez
Evan wants at least 3 years... He's not looking for a short term throwaway deal. A one year deal would hurt him.

Free Radical
I'd say do a 3 year deal, and structure it so that cutting him after the second wouldn't really hurt.
likeriver
5 year deal at 2.5m per yearOr a 10 year deal at 1.3m per year
FentayeJones
5 year deal at 2.5m per yearOr a 10 year deal at 1.3m per year 5 or 10 year deal for a dude thats 34?
shockerfalcon
He's not going to get that anytime soon. That's too much for a player his age at the position he plays. For sure he'd help us this year, barring injury of course, but long term idk. Think he'd be better off taking a 2 year prove it deal
