Falcons Make Several Roster Moves

Falcons signed RB Michael Ford, formerly of the Bears.

25-year-old Ford spent 2014 out of football after being cut by Chicago. He ran 4.5-flat at 5-foot-10, 210 coming out of LSU in 2013, but still went undrafted. Ford is needed with Tevin Coleman and Devonta Freeman on the shelf.

The Atlanta Falcons today announced that they have signed running back Michael Ford and tight end DJ Tialavea, and have waived/injured tight end Beau Gardnericon-article-link.gif, in addition to waiving Freddie Martinoicon-article-link.gif.

Ford, 5-10, 216 pounds, was originally signed by the Chicago Bears as a college free agent out of Louisiana State in 2013. He saw action mostly on special teams for the Bears.

Tialavea, 6-4, 260 pounds, was originally signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as a college free agent out of Utah State in 2014. He also spent time as a member of the Buffalo Bills practice squad last season. Tialavea played in 40 games during his collegiate career and caught 30 passes for 198 yards and five touchdowns.

Gardner, 6-4, 240 pounds, was originally signed as a college free agent following the 2015 NFL Draft out of Northern Arizona.

Martino, 6-0, 195 pounds, was signed by the Falcons as a college free agent out of North Greenville in 2014.

I loved this guy coming out of college. Plays with power and flashy speed. Not a good back for Man Blocking in the NFL tho, but just what you're looking for in ZBS. Could retain a spot on the squad even when Coleman and Freeman return


Dang, Falcons could run the wishbone...
