Knight of God
I've been hard on the guy this whole off season. I'm going to ease up. Maybe my prejudice towards the past regime clouded me in some way, but I will sit back and wait it out and see what he does from here on. Like I normally do about this time.Just for the record, I am hoping Coleman breaks out early and takes over, but for now I will concede that it is Freeman who will start and possibly do a great job. SyCo
Nothing against Freeman but I just don't want some small, scrawny back as our leading rusher. I want a big, bruising smash-mouth RB that will intimidate NFL Defenses. hey its the complain about everything routine. haven't seen this one in about 45 minutes, is it throwback thursday already? Logs the wantabe QB
I think that's what everyone is doing about this whole team because of previous years. I think our team has more talent than people think and added good talent as well

bigbabygrady
You don't need height to be a starting quality RB in the NFL

CTann
Are you joking? 5'8 is practically a dwarf in the NFL. You aren't scaring anybody with a 5'8 back. Are you more concerned that our starting RB "scares" opposing players based on his size? Or are you more concerned that our starting RB racks up positive yards and blocks well?

Atlfanstckndenver
Are you joking? 5'8 is practically a dwarf in the NFL. You aren't scaring anybody with a 5'8 back.Tell that to the teams that CJ Anderson dominated last season.
g-dawg
Tell that to the teams that CJ Anderson dominated last season. How tall is the average running back in the NFL? I looked at the top 50 NFL running backs based on their yards from scrimmage (rushing and receiving yards) this past season and discovered that the average height of these players in 2012 was 70.64 inches, which would measure between 5'10” and 5'11”. g-dawg
With RBs, it is not about height as much as it is speed and running power. There are many RBs in the 5'8" to 5'9" range that weigh 200-215lbs that meet the requirements to excel in the NFL as starting RBs.
papachaz
I have high standards and actually want this team to do well unlike some of these cheerleaders on this board. Like I said, nothing against Freeman but he is not the type of back I want to lead this team. I want a big, nasty mean RB who will terrify opposing teams. Freeman will never become that.here's to hoping one of the mods cross checks your IP address

Geneaut
Here we go. This is how things get blown on this board full of cheerleaders. I never said anything about being a starting RB in the NFL. That wasn't the point. My point was that Freeman, who is 5'8, will never be that type of RB who strikes fear into the opposing teams hearts no matter how good he is. He can be the best RB in the NFL but at the end of the day he would still be a scrawny 5'8. Sure some foilks would be fine with that but not me. I want a big, imposing back that can punish other teams. I saw people scared of Barry Sanders. Scared of getting juked outta their jocks on national television. You could see it in their eyes. Geneaut
Sanders was well respected yes. But feared? Not even close. A 5'8 man is child's play in the NFL.Yes, feared. There wasn't another man in the NFL that could do what he did, and every man on the field knew it.“There was one guy since I’ve been playing that I was afraid of because he could beat us at any moment. That was Barry”. - Reggie White

At his apex, Michael Turner was a thumper and he was 5'10".I understand your desire for girth but don't get hung up on height. MJD was a thumper and he was 5'8".Is Freeman a thumper? NO but you don't have to be over 6'0" - not a lot of RBs are and most of the ones that meet your criteria of being a thumper are sub six foot. Geneaut
Yup, he 'feared' in this context means well respected. Nobody in the NFL fears a 5'8 RB. It's Football 101.No, it's not. Fear isn't just physical intimidation.
