Tandy
Looks like Marcus Benard got the worst of that last sack shown. Ouch!
Fiddlin John Carson
The thing that amazes me about him is not only has he taken a beating these last two seasons...he never gets that "deer in the headlights" ptsd look no matter what. Most qb's can only take so much beating before losing their will. Not Ryan. He has tremendous mental toughness. And like I said on the other thread...mental toughness is what seperates the men from the boys. FenixFalcon
If he can avoid anymore boneheaded INTs and not be forced to try to make a 20+ point comeback at the end of games Ryan is easily the 5th best QB in the game (imo) behind Rodgers, Brady, Manning and Brees. In his first 3 games he had 2 games with perfect passer ratings, which doesn't include his stellar play for the remainder of the season. Not to mention there's only a handful of QBs in NFL history who could take the beating he has and still be able to play professional football. Dudes a monster, especially when he's on his game and pissed off. Edited August 3, 2015 by FenixFalcon

It's an occupational hazard; cost of doing business.
FenixFalcon
Name one QB with that many attempts who hasn't and/or doesn't make boneheaded INTs.. It's an occupational hazard; cost of doing business.Aaron Rodgers is the only QB I've never seen make a handful of stupid interceptions. Most of the interceptions he throws are from a failed route ran by a receiver or a dropped pass. He rarely overthrows and even more uncommonly throws inaccurately under pressure. I really dislike him because of the whole Brett Favre thing but it's hard to argue the guy is a wizard in the pocket. Now I'm not suggesting Mattro should be Aaron Rodgers, but imagine if he did only have 9 ints a year. He'd be regarded as one of the top 3 QBs without a doubt.
Free Radical
What was amazing about Rodgers is that all but one of his interceptions during the season were not his fault, but he threw two bad ones in the play-offs.
Shuswap
Ryan, needs a Run game and a defense. Something he's been lacking for a few years and he's a top 7 QB.

Bring It
Ryan, needs a Run game and a defense. Something he's been lacking for a few years and he's a top 7 QB. Just imagine what could have been. Since 2008. Ryan is one special QB.........one special person. A genuine leader.

FenixFalcon
did you see his game against the bills last year he didn't have a good game at all. You're misquoting me. I didn't say anything about Rodgers never making mistakes. Let's also not forgot boykin dropped that pass for an interception along with 7 other passes dropped by receivers that day. He had a bad game sure, but his receivers were nearly useless that game and were talking about INT, not how they play each individual game. DoYouSeeWhatHappensLarry
Not that I like seeing Matt Ryan under constant pressure or taking shots but ~34 sacks a year is less than the average amount of sacks taken in pretty much every season. In many seasons, that's a Top 10 rate.
MAD597
I'm not sure what Ryan will do if he ever has 3 seconds behind the line like Brees, Brady and Rodgers always have. Might be weird for him to not get hit on every 2 step drop back.

I'll give Newton the tangibles to be a great QB, he's big, fast, strong, and accurate enough but every time I see him acting like an airplane with his pads out before games (never understood this unless he played for the Jets) or sulking on the sidelines with a towel over his head it reminds me how lucky we are to have a guy like Ryan at the helm. FenixFalcon
And all of Ryan's picks are his fault?Again I'm getting misquoted. I never said they were, all I said was if Ryan can shore up on the ones he forces and overthrows then he'll cut his Int numbers down significantly. Nothing he can do about receiver failing to hit their route properly or a receivers timing being thrown off on timing plays. We have a receiving core as good as any in the league (at least in terms of WR# 1,2 and 4s), so you wouldn't think that would be as big of an issue. Harry is gone too so I don't see too many more of those ridiculous pick 6s on slant routes.

And that was a legit question about your post. The number you said was 9, he had 14 INTs last year, willing to bet half of them weren't his fault, lets say a 3rd of them, that takes him down to you guessed it, 9 INTs.Ryan is top 6 all time for INT %, if you compare him to the best of all time, Rodgers, sure, he comes off badly, but only comparing him to Rodgers and a couple of others. Also willing to bet that many of his worst looking INTs are WR error but Ryan is never going to call out a teammate and always take the blame himself. Atlfanstckndenver
Harry Douglas was magnificently inconsistent when it came to playing receiver. Which was his only job. Douglas caused a bunch of ints for us over the years.
