Sheldon Cooper
Keep in mind I only observed a few select players and the defense was on the far field for drills so I watched the offense near side. They started off with ST's and Starr, Freeman, Coleman, Beasley, Alford, and White are guys I saw lined up which may be notable for the ones trying to squeak onto the 53.WR/TEHardy had the first drop Julio had the second, and I didnt see another after that.Mitchell is big and strong off the line and caught the ball well. He recieved coaching later in 7 on 7's on a incompletion but I prefer another big to be Julio's back up and he is the only one.Hester caught everything that I saw and looked good throughout at WR. He is not giving his roster spot away. At the same time Reedy and Williams are doing nothing to surrender their bid as both look capable as the next man up in the event of injury to Hester. We have PS candidates if someone else does not need them.Hankerson has been billed as the best WR in camp so far. He made some nice grabs today and caught everything that I saw. Julio was the best/most dominant WR thoughout today as he likely is every day.White had his knee drained before camp and is still the clear #2 as his veteren savvy shows time and again. Hankerson is ahead of Hardy for #3.Hardy made a couple nice catches when he gets a chance but Julio/Roddy/Hankerson and even Hester garner the attention of the passer more often than not. He looks silky smooth with good hands though.Tamme is the clear cut #1 to this point.Toilolo had a catch that I saw, short yardage.Moeaki had a pass defended INC by Worrilow, go Wor. Might have had a catch or two.Gardner had a 30 yd TD on Yates first possesion in 7 on 7. Did not catch who he beat, but vs twos I think. I think he could push Toilolo or Moeaki off roster.OL/DLMatthews looked good, he held Beasley in check on one play I saw but was beat inside by Vic for a sack on Ryan on another. They are an even match and its nice to have two guys at those two key poitions that are such great athletes that they sharpen each others skills.Huffer they like a lot because he gets a lot of snaps at LT and looks solid. He stone walled Starr which is not a big deal but they like him too.Starr as I said must be gaining the coaches admiration because he is getting a lot of reps.He came in with Beasley a lot. He got pressure around the edge(Huffer) one time but the ball got out just in time. He got taken for a ride on an inside attempt by LG Person who looked like a human forklift carrying a pallet.Person is probably the back up OG unless that end up being Chester. Both look good and Person has gotten the start at LG consistantly.LBWorrilow had a day. He had a pass defensed deep down the middle but tipped up high and Julio came down with the catch and strolled into the end zone. Wor had a second PD on Moeaki underneath which he batted straight to the ground. Bottom line is he is making plays in the passing game.DB'sAllen definately has FS won. I did not notice he subs for him with the twos.Adams is clear cut NB with no competition on the roster. The good thing is its not by default. He is in tight coverage in the middle of the field. Hardy I think made one grab but Adams is on the hip for immediate stop.Alford is still Alford. He mugs the WR(Julio) downfield but he was beat deep so what choice did he have. He got coaching afterwards.Collins has arms like a jr varsity high school K. He has the change of direction needed to play inside but he does not have the strength. He does not yet look ready to challenge Alford for #1 RCB yet but he is clear #2. He recieved a lot of coaching after his rep in 7 on 7's.Kevin White played RCB today and is at his best outside where despite his lack of speed, he blankets WR's surrendering neither easy catches underneath nor clean break deep. He is fiesty and the contact he has beyond 5 yds is more technique savy maintaining his rightful realestate especially along the sideline where he shrewdly uses the boundary to his advantage. Without that advantage inside his contact could be considered incoincidental again maintaining his rightful realestate unlike Alford who almost tackles in the trail position. Atleast White is still over the top and the contact looks more the WR's fault. Saw him on teams and early in rotation where he played well. Coaches gave more accolades than corrections to him.King was the other end of the spectrum. He is also at RCB and like Starr and Huffer gets a lot of time in 11 on 11's so they are trying to help him. In 7 on 7's he was beat clean deep, thrown to the ground inside underneath, and manhandled off the line. Mitchell for one. He gives up easy yards in front of him. He recieved correction almost every rep. If White had Kings size/speed he would have been a 1st rd pick. If King had KW's he would have been undrafted and unsigned. King is getting every opportunity for his size/speed potential, but he needs to figure things out quick as far as what they are telling him to do.Trufant on the other end of that spectrum is the consumate pro. He held perfect position on Roddy for a perfectly played PD on an inside move. That was his WOW moment for me even on the other side of the field. Tight coverage otherwise.Southward is at #2 LCB today and looked good. Better than Collins and King. Unlike King he was not beat deep(Weems though) and quick to pounce on underneath surrendering only short gains. He aint the next Richard Sherman but the size and hair makes you look twice when he makes the plays he did. I'll take a poor mans RS as Tru's back up.Moore had a play short over the middle that he would have blown up with full contact.Julio had a 45 yd td in 7-7's. After being overthrown on one play and dropping a pass(both Ryan) in drills he caught everything I saw and was open at will the rest of the way. Should have mentioned him before with recievers, oh well. Those are the guys I noticed if I did not mention I did not pay attention to them. Which reminds me.RBColeman looks like our only make something out of nothing option. Has makings to be special.Freeman is a vet now and may start the season as #1 but I doubt he keeps it. That said he is stout with very good hands. Held on to a ball with contact which impressed. Looks like a tough runner too. No tackling yet so we will see for sure later. Same goes for Coleman.Mooney had a grab that I saw but I still expect DiMarco to keep his sole FB spot on the 53.

Lornoth
Kevin White is my favourite of our UDFA, good to hear he's doing well. Thanks for the extensive write up mate, it's really great of you to do for us that can't make it to camp..
Sheldon Cooper
Couple things I forgot.Biermann I only saw once but he looked way better coming around the corner at LEO than Starr who is no guarantee to make it despite all the reps he gets. Beasley technically was the starter today and when I saw him I felt he should and will be in regular season too. Biermann is a good #2 LEO. Looked strong and quick. Starr will be inactive every week unless Maponga beats him out.Hardy did in fact have a beautiful TD deep in early drills I think from the 45 yd line.Stupar I did notice in with the ones and Durant was on the sideline suited up with helmet in hand so until I later read that it was scheduled I did not know why. Stupar looked fine, he is the one that had tight coverage on the Freeman reception where he popped Devonta with his shoulder and inadverdantly knocked him down. Free held on for the impressive catch.Bryant nailed everything from my angle anyway all the way out to deep range.

Sheldon Cooper
No problem. Beasley is creating a lot of buzz which he deserves. The tweet about Oher struggling amid Beasleys impact sure makes for a undescribable elation.

ki46dinah
this is gonna sound sad....its official that southward is a cb now and allen is our fs?? ive been gone for a minute
Des-pool
Yeah, it's looking like it. Quinn has been preaching finding out skill sets and putting the player in the best position to succeed, and the Allen/Southward switch looks like living proof of it. Diesel_Bird
Still scratching my head at the Toilolo pick. I mean he has just never impressed me. He should thank god he is 6'
FentayeJones
Good to hear that Southward and Allen are working out in their new positions. Its amazing how two different coaching staffs see players differently. Edited August 2, 2015 by FentayeJones
Sheldon Cooper
Really got to say again how tough Roddy is. He does not look to be slowing down for age or injury and with the knee draining it is seriously a huge testament to what a tough hombre the former HS wrestler really is. Even Ryan gushes about Roddy.Speaking of Ryan, the Kyle connection is paying dividends already as Ryan is finally growing some facial hair(homage to HC Quinn) and letting his bangs grow out. But its more than that as they are already showing evidence of a bond greater than outward appearance. Ryan has been openly admiring of Kyles intelligence and ideas and the two are apparently working well together to meld the offensive scheme to boths liking. KRUNKuno
King is transitioning from safety. I like his potential a lot, and would like it even more if they decided to keep him at safety. But Quinn obviously sees something different.
gazoo
Great writeup 2.0. Great to hear Worrilow was playing the pass better, hopefully yhtis is a trend. I've been hearing a lot about Adams, sounds like he may have NB sketched in for himself.
4.5 underdogs
Do not know where you pull this from/out of "Coleman looks like our only make something out of nothing option". I can remember in the 1st game last season when Freeman was thrown the ball by Ryan 8 yards behind the first down marker on 3rd down with 3 guys between him and the mark. Yet he broke a couple of tackles and got the first down. Your entire post is nothing but conjecture.
stizz
Good to see the Starr ride is finally coming to an end. Dude was getting mauled last preseason and doesn't fit Quinn's mantra at all. Good to know ATL is no longer the home of weak/finesse guys. Gotta have that dog in you to be on that 53.
