Knight of God
Not saying take out a flyer on him as a starter, but maybe as a swing tackle on the cheap. Personally I wouldn't mind. We are not 100% stable at the position so maybe a little more competition wouldn't hurt. Also, it is said his greatest struggle is with the man blocking scheme and he would benefit from zone blocking.http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/colts-release-gosder-cherilus-tackle-slowed-by-injuries/ar-AAdwTMd?ocid=ansspap11INDIANAPOLIS (AP) The Indianapolis Colts released starting right tackle Gosder Cherilus on Sunday, a surprising move less than a week before players report to training camp.Cherilus had been a staple of the offensive line the past two seasons. He started 29 games, including two playoff games, in 2013.But the 31-year-old Haitian struggled with injuries last season and was put on season-ending injured reserve in December. He had offseason knee surgery. The Colts hoped Cherilus would be healthy for training camp even as they plugged second-year guard Jack Mewhort into Cherilus' spot during offseason workouts. Mewhort, Indy's second-round draft pick in 2014, played tackle at Ohio State and now goes into camp as the likely starter.Cherilus spent his first five NFL seasons with Detroit. Knight of God
Cant be any worse than Polumbus. That's all I'm saying. And at swing tackle. Not sure it would be so bad.
hjerry
Cant be any worse than Polumbus.I'm not a huge fan of him either, but Polumbus does have the advantage of familiarity with Shanahan though.I'd say that it depends on how healthy that Holmes is right now. We haven't heard a peep since his injury, and, if they think that he might miss games, then this could make sense. Depends on the cost though of course. Oldskooler
So we have an injured, old, broken-down has-been?If this were still the Smitty era, I would expect him to be signed to a multi-year mega-deal.Now? No thanks.

vel
I'd actually be open to this one as we don't have OT depth and he wouldn't be expensive.

There is no one behind Matthews at all.EDIT: and we could use the help at RT.

jeffro2000
I would be for it. The guy was solid and hopefully can be again. On paper, he looks better than Polumbus. Depth on the OL is scary, especially at tackle. If he is cheap, then it wouldn't hurt to kick the the tires on him.
Oldskooler
What's YOUR idea? Here is some help. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/tackle/available/Lots of bubblewrap for Matthews. Nobody out there that is exciting. Jake Long is as old and broke-down as this guy, but was at least an All Pro a few years ago. If old and broken is the best available, I would take a flyer on Long before Moncherie.

There is hope for Jake Long. Not a lot, mind you---.
