The question you have to ask yourselfs is. Falcons havent won a Super Bowl when Ryan and Julio contract were bargains what makes anyone think Falcons will win a Super Bowl anytime soon while Ryan cap hit is rising and Julio bout to be paid?

Because we now have a coach who understands modern day Defenses and the NFL.

At the risk of triggering the spam clause of the COC:

Who said this about Jones:

"The things I've heard about him just in terms of the leader he's become on and off the field, can't wait to connect with him," Quinn said. "For me, just to have the chance to start the process with him, I can't wait. ... We love great players, and we want to celebrate all the good guys that we have. We're trying to collect more great players, not the other way around."

Oops, answer is in the quote- the HC, you know, the one with authority over the roster? Jones ain't going nowhere. Don't agree with your arguments for trading him, but doesn't matter, 'cause the Falcons don't either.

Falcons are making big mistake if they sign Julio to that kind of dough. They have too many holes and WRs are expendable. Plus Julios foot is still a lingering question mark. Falcons need to save that cash and shore up their lines and get them a top notch LB that is a playmaker and not a NFL 2nd stringer.

Sorry [not sorry], but your vote doesn't count.

Jones is getting paid 10 mil this year, the tag would be about 14 mil next year. that's a difference of 4 mil over two 14 mil seasons.

What top flight LB can they get for 4 mil?

Plus, they can set up the contract so that the cap hit is LOWER than that the first 3 years, which means signing Jones to a long term contract INCREASES the chance they can put a better team around him.

Falcons have about 15 mil in cap room right now. 30+ mil next 2 years. Cap keeps going up. Falcons have great flexibility in their cap, and no one else they have to pay a ton of money to next couple of years.

Because they have much better coaching, because they're due a little luck as far as injuries go,esp. Oline, because Ryan and Jones are just that good, because they have the raw materials for a good young D for the next few years and a defensive guru to mold them into a force, because they have a couple of young RBs who can make the run game go.

Falcons are set up to make a 3 year run at the super bowl. Sign Jones to a contract that allows you to cut him after 3 years, if need be. Rest of the offense is paid until 16 or 17.

D is filled with youngsters on their first contracts, if Quinn makes them a respectable D, then Ryan, Jones and the offense can win a super bowl the same way that the Saints did a few years ago-great offense, opportunistic D.

In 3 years, you're going to have a cap crunch, but by that time, you'll either have a lombardi or you'll need to start re-tooling anyway.

You are basing this on false hopes. This is false. You have no clue if they have better coaching at all. This is you hoping they do

You're not excited by Quinn taking over the team then?

It's not just Quinn either, rest of the staff is solid. Shanahan and Ryan should be a great fit, Smith is quietly very good.

Doesn't change any of the rest of my post, which you studiously ignored. Falcons are in great shape with the cap, even if they pay Jones 14 mil, which is going to be less and less of the cap as time goes on.

And assuming that Quinn is a better coach than Smith isn't much of a stretch.

Super excited about Quinn but I dont know if he will be a better Head coach than Smith and nothing suggest TD or staff will field better talent on defense. Nothing I see from this team we will be a contender while paying Julio and Ryan top salary. So unleas your coaching hope makes a difference this team will be on similar path as previous , instead of building lines, we have $ tied up in glamour positions

So these past two off seasons don't suggest that we are putting better talent into the defense?

No the defense was dead last season. We lost Spoon, Peters , Osi gained Beasley, Collins, Reed, Durant, Jarrett Nothing suggest we highly upgraded the defensive talent to a championship level

Falcons have plenty of cap room next 3 years, they can literally do anything they want for a few years, as far as cap goes. Jones 14 mil will be less of the cap than other top WR salaries from previous years.

and Falcons just spent 3 very high draft picks last 2 years on building lines, and much of their FA money on the same. Last year, 30 minutes after FA started , Falcons had a new NT, new DT and a new LG.

That's a considerable chunk of resources devoted to the lines last 2 years, plus lower round picks and a couple of other FAs.

Massive injuries on the Oline and a bizarre D scheme conspired to take the team down, but they certainly tried to fix the lines the last 2 years. A more sensible scheme on D, coupled with Hageman & Beasley playing well and good health by the Oline means there's reason to be optimistic about the lines this year.

Who was New England's $10-$12 million dollar receiver last year? Seattle's $10-$12 million dollar receiver the year before that when they won the SuperBowl? How about Baltimore the year before that? None of these teams spend that kind of dough on receivers? And guess what? They win Lomabardi's. When was last time Minnesota won one? Dallas? Denver? Detroit? name me any NFL team in last 20 years that won a SuperBowl with a high $$$ receiver? Guess what you can't. Because to win a SuperBowl you have to be COMPLETE team not one sided. You don't put that much money into 2 players and expect to win a SuperBowl cause it WONT HAPPEN. HISTORY DONT LIE.

Really?? I'm the first one to use Tuggle's meme in this thread? Shame on you AFMB!

Ryans' contract was no bargain.... He was drafted before the new CBA and Julio deserves to get paid........

Falcons reuped Ryan and Roddy before TC when their time came so I can see the same for Julio.....
