Sec Media Days 2015

Recommended Posts

it started on Monday.. today you had spurrier taking his usual digs this time at tennessee and arkanas and pronouncing that usce is a possible top 10 team. you have the media predictions on wednesday i believe.. they have been right 4 out of 22 years.. lol.. great track record.

That's actually true lol.... Facebook is full of UT fans posting those stupid "the giant is waking up" pics. Meanwhile they get smoked by Mizzou... smh

if i had a dime for every ut fan on facebook or online that has said they are back after a 7-6 season i would be able to buy a few dozen xbox ones and ps4s. i have never seen a fan base so giddy over a record with some horrible wins and just 1 game over .500. i am not saying they shouldn't be happy that they feel they are moving in the right direction, but you don't make proclamations after a .500 regular season.

after watching today it's going to be interesting what happens with msu.. they have the best qb in the sec and a heisman trophy competitor. many are picking them to be last due to their returning starters which is an impt fact. the question is can prescott overcome those losses? very hard to know about them.. a&m even with a new dc will struggle mightily this year. i really think right now it's auburn or bama with ole miss.. my pick right now is ole miss.

It depends when Ole Miss does not get destroyed by injuries again. They are at Bama and at Auburn. I think it will be Auburn. I want UGA to play Auburn twice in one season.

I've seen this posted before and since the SEC Media Days are rolling along, just seems right to post again.

SEC schools as Star Wars Characters....

Alabama-The Emperor. Immensely powerful, everybody hates him, built an empire almost everybody else wants to see overthrown. F*** him.

Auburn- Darth Vader. powerful, but not quite as powerful as the Emperor. Unlike the Emperor, he has a few redeemable qualities, but most still just hate him too.

Florida- Yoda. The former leader. Shows flashes of being a badass, and some flashes of being an incompetent cripple. Right now he's laying in his hut dying.

LSU- Jabba the Hutt. Runs a powerful cartel of drunken Cajuns, and their average fan is at least as fat/ repulsive as Jabba himself. Admittedly though, he knows how to party, and it's tough to make it out of his palace alive.

Georgia- Obiwan Kenobi. Powerful, has so much potential, but consistently just can't get the job done when it really matters.

Tennessee- Chewbacca. You keep being told how scary he is, but you haven't actually seen it. Their fans make about the same small degree of sense when they talk as Chewbacca does. It's a whole lot of loud and incoherent noise.

Vanderbilt- C3P0. The smart gold colored dude.

Kentucky- R2D2. The little blue guy you really only appreciate when you need to stop for repairs (basketball season).

Ole Miss - Admiral Ackbar. The Rebel leader who overestimates what he has, and finds himself way over his head most of the time.

Miss State - Jar Jar Binx. Just........why?

South Carolina- Han Solo. For no other reason than I love Steve Spurrier. Han is really Cocky or something too, right?

TAMU- Luke Skywalker. The new guy with a fresh face. Showed some recent flashes of brilliance. You feel like he could be consistently good eventually, but for now all he can do is dangle there with his hand missing and hope his defense doesn't keep letting him down. Oops, Alabama just scored again.

Arkansas- Stormtrooper. Everybody seems to be scared of them, and it may end up being for good reason. You can kind of imagine how they could possibly kill you, but mostly all you've ever actually seen them do is shoot and miss.

Mizzou- Boba Fett. The guy everybody forgets about until he flies in and kicks some ***. Eventually we may remember he exists and give him due respect.....eh, probably not. He talks like a Yankee and doesn't drink sweet tea.

that's possible. i was leaning auburn, but they will have plenty of defensive issues. i just think ole miss with all those jrs and srs and that talent will be a surprise team who wins it. i see a few upsets and one being possibly arky over bama. it will be one of those teams though.

Saban now saying the draft process distracted his team the past 2 years in their bowl preparation and performance. He says it in such a way that it makes sense, but honestly bro you just got beat lol

LOL. Like Alabama is not playing excellent D1 teams in bowl games with players likely to have also gotten draft grades. If Meyer kept his team focused, what's that say about Saban?

Steve Spurrier calling out Tennessee and Arkansas reminds me of this 'Far Side' cartoon:

Far-Side-Talking-to-You.jpg

If you're so tough, why pick a fight with another little guy? Gamecocks were top 10 last season and laid an egg on week one against A&M so dude has enough battles in house that he shouldn't worry about anybody else.

Even better since he hasn't beat Tennessee in two years. But it wouldn't be the same without Spurrier ribbing Tennessee.

it was a pathetic excuse by nick saban.. every team has those draft grades.. if his staff isn't good enough to get his guys motivated that's on him and his coaching staff. he wants the draft grades moved back a week. he doesn't want kids to be concerned with injury.. funny how most coaches don't get a crap about it and aren't using it as excuses for losing games. plaxico had some things to say about his ex-coach..

LOLOL.. yeah that's soo true.. i remember when he used to give the vol's crap about being happy with the citrus bowl. now he is happy with some birmingham bowl or whatever.. he is picking on team's who have beaten him which is the funny part.

lolol.. that's his issue.. he is quite bitter that the vol's have taken over with back to back wins. that loss to the vols last year will haunt him for a while.. one of the biggests chokes i have seen..

regarding nick's excuse of all those players taking off and why he lost.. this is les miles opinion of draft grades..

Les Mikes says he has "maybe" had one player in 11 years who tanked a bowl game because of NFL hopes.

Les Miles on Nick Saban’s comments that players’ bowl performances effected by NFL Draft concerns: “I have not seen that"

So, Nick blames players who were concerned about getting hurt and Kirby Smart blames players who were over confident. Which was it? I can't imagine over confident players being worried about being hurt. If anything, they'd play looser against a lesser opponent, but tighter. But just that, but how did his championship teams avoid this mindset? He makes it sound accidental that his team's do well.

yeah they need to get on the same page on their excuse making. the reality is this ohio state kicked bama's butt on the LOS.. bama has more talent than any team in the nation in their 2 deep.. no one can equal that talent. however their line play had been just okay and thus ohio state threw around like rag dolls. why do you think they took a dlinemen who had a felony charge of domestic abuse? he is a great defensive line prospect. they need help on both lines despite all that talent they have recruited there. sounds like some coaches need to work on coaching em up.

@McMurphyESPN

Somehow 5 voters didn’t put Georgia’s Nick Chubb as 1st team All SEC running back. Please identify yourself

From a 247Sports article about Media Days:

16) Everyone should be rooting for Malcolm Mitchell

A handful of players stood out as being more thoughtful and engaging than the rest, but Malcolm Mitchell was one of the funniest, most introspective college football players I’ve ever talked to. After coming in as the No. 33 overall prospect in the 2011 class, Mitchell’s development on the field has been delayed by a litany of injuries, but his time in Athens has molded him into a sweet kid and, as you may have heard, a children's book author, too.
