Recommended Posts

it's really not all its cracked up to be.

I'm the same way, I don't really enjoy vacation to me my perfect vacation would be kicking back watching the Dawgs and Falcons both get wins

So I could see ehy you wouldn't like Hawaii especially since it's for the army haha

I wish I could be at the Braves game on the 4th. Unfortunately, the Army decided I had to be in Hawaii.

Hawaii is nice this time of the year, but that's because it's nice any time of year! A word of caution though. Be super careful about body-surfing when you hit the beach. I tried that on one of those beaches with big waves and a super-strong undertow.

The first wave I caught bashed me into the bottom 10 yards from the beach and I was pulled back out before I could get my feet underneath me and grab a breath of air. Ditto as the undertow pulled me back for a second wave, which crashed me into the bottom again. I managed to get one small gulp of air before the third wave took me out, then back into the beach. I'm sure I was under water for a good three minutes or more before I could grab that breath of air. Plus I was being rolled and tumbled on the bottom, banging my head on the bottom and on coral, etc. It was to the point where I wasn't even sure which way was "up" to get to the surface.

Dam near drowned. When I got loose of the undertow on the third wave I literally crawled out of the water and up the beach on my hands and knees. I was too weak and dizzy to stand up. I laid on the beach completely spent for the next two hours, barely able to move. I'm not sure how I didn't die. Got extremely lucky, because I was just about gone by the time that third wave pulled me out. So enjoy yourself, but be wary if you've never messed around with waves/surf as big as in Hawaii.

Yeah, been here a year and a half so far. Been surfing, Body boarding, stand up paddle boarding, and scuba diving. Been in a few hairy situations, but none like that.
