Matt Ryan In The Superstar Club

Recommended Posts

I think the comparison to Tony Romo is a very good one in regards to both being much better than their reputations would lead you to believe. I know there are quite a few clowns on here that like to hate on Romo whenever I bring up how good he really is. What makes it funny is how those are the same people that throw fits whenever they think Matt Ryan is being slighted even though they do the same to Romo when Ryan has NEVER had a statistical season as good as Romo. Romo gets no respect here even though he deserves it and Ryan gets no respect nationally even though he deserves it.

We gotta get ourselves in a WC round. That's one thing we haven't had the benefit of....landing in the WC round and playing a "meh" opponent. That's where a **** of a lot of the legendary "playoff success!" comes from.....teams getting to play 5 and 6 seeds at home in the playoffs when the 5/6 is weakish. We've basically played the best teams in the league every year in the playoffs. That's randomness.

Thank you for articulating this! Every team we lost to in the playoffs went to the SB that same year....I think people tend to undervalue that point.

Good point. We've had bad luck with playoff matching.

Probably because it sounds really really really silly to brag about losing to a team just because that team made it to the Super Bowl. There's no pride in losing in the playoffs period. Don't care who the opponent is.

no one was "bragging" if we lose to the eventual SB champions then what can we do? We lost to the best team in the NFL and the other times we lost to the best team in the NFC if no one else in the NFL/NFC can beat them then how can we?

I swear only on this message board by these fans do they bring up "X team went to the Super Bowl" so it's ok that we lost to them. Sorry but I don't think like that. That's a loser's way of thinking.

You think Broncos fans bring up that it's ok they lost to the Ravens in 2012 because the Ravens won the Super Bowl? Nope. They talk about how they blew a sure playoff win at home and how embarrassing it was.

Become a team capable of beating really good teams?

1. Someone complains we don't win a lot of playoff games.

2. Another points out one reason is because we always play the eventual Super Bowl Winner that year, or what was the very best NFL team that year.

3. Another suggests that #2 above is a good point ( which it is a good point)

Perfectly reasonable point and counterpoint and anayslis of point counterpoint

Then the out of context insanity follows......

We are bragging because we lost to Super Bowl team ( this never happened)

We have to beat good teams to win in playoffs ( no one suggested otherwise)

We need to become a team capable of beating really good teams ( no one suggested otherwise)

These are the type of teams you must beat to win in the playoffs ( this is false, many teams have won playoff games against teams that did not eventually win the Super Bowl that year)

If the Falcons hadn't played like crap against the Packers and Giants then maybe that would be a legit excuse but it's not because the Falcons were blown off the effin field in both of those games. The 2008 Cardinals were not that good of a team. Had Michael Turner not been blown up in the backfield for a fumble and TD on the 1st play of the 2nd half the Falcons would have beaten them in their building with a rookie coach and QB. The Falcons were up 17-14 before that play and had all the momentum from scoring a TD right before halftime. Also if the Falcons don't fall flat on their face against the 49ers in 2012 they would have been in the Super Bowl. You guys act like those teams were un****ing beatable or something when they clearly weren't unbeatable. The Giants barely made the playoffs in 2011. The Packers were the #6 seed in 2010. Teams were not unbeatable and them making it to the Super Bowl doesn't ******* matter!!! The Falcons lost those games but don't act like it's all ok that they did just because those teams made the ******* Super Bowl. It's a loser's way of thinking.

we weren't the best team that year those other teams were. i swear you all act like we lost to the 7-9 Seahawks or some random WC team that got kicked out of the playoffs after beating us. No we lost to the BEST TEAM IN FOOTBALL.

means the same in the end. Losers. No excuses and no trying to make it sound better. Losers plain and simple

There are two types of posters on this thread, those banging their spoon on their high chair and flinging baby food on others, and the adults having a rational, honest at conversation about facts surrounding some of the issues we've had.

Let me know how that tough "no excuses" talk works out for you children, just try to stop flinging your baby food over at us adults.

LOL! Gazoo you're one of the quickest to throw out when someone violates the COC of this message board and yet right here you just violated it yourself.

But it's no surprise that's all you got since you know deep down inside that it's silly to pump up that it's ok that the Falcons lost those games because those teams made it to the Super Bowl and just don't want to admit that it's true.

So you guys equate a bad postseason record to facing the NFC or eventual SB champs...a fact about an issue.

Some people say that's not an excuse and we need to beat those type of teams in the playoffs for any success because pretty much anybody is capable of reaching those same heights(NFC champ or SB winner) in the postseason...some facts about the issue.

Yet the narrative that isn't inline with your own is the equivalent of a baby in a high chair while you're having rational conversations in the middle of belittling other Falcons fans.

Need to get the sand out your vag, Nancy

That doesn't make those losses better. I have never understood the mindset that a group of fans have on here that think just cause those teams made the Super Bowl that it somehow makes those losses better. The Falcons lost plain and simple. It doesn't matter that those teams made the Super Bowl. It doesn't make those losses any less bad. 48-16 is terrible no matter who it's against. 24-2 is terrible no matter who it's against. Setting the record for biggest 2nd half collapse in NFC Championship Game history by a #1 seed at home is terrible no matter who it's against. Acting like those losses are somehow less bad because those teams went to the Super Bowl is like giving all the 8 year olds a trophy just for participating. It fosters a sense of entitlement and that is the main issue in this country today! Everyone thinks they're entailed to whatever it is they want instead of actually going out and earning it!

Because it makes us FEEL better, that's why.

😳

For whatever it's worth, I agree with you.
