FLOWERY BRANCH — NFL analyst Bucky Brooks rated the league’s top 20 coordinators and Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan landed in the 18thspot.

Shanahan is ranked ahead of Green Bay associate head coach/offense Tom Clements and Seattle’s defensive coordinator Kris Richard. Former Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter is ranked two spots ahead of Shanahan at 16th.

18) Kyle Shanahan, offensive coordinator, Atlanta Falcons: The creative play caller is one of the best teachers of the stretch-bootleg combination (outside-zone run complemented by the bootleg passing game), but it is his ability to meld collegiate concepts with traditional NFL schemes that has made him a hot commodity in league circles.

The top five coordinators in the league are...

New England’s offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, Dallas defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli, Minnesota offensive coordinator Norv Turner, Chicago defensive coordinator Vic Fangio and Pittsburgh offensive coordinator Todd Haley.

Brooks also offered his top three head-coaching candidates in Detroit defensive coordinator Teryl Austin, McDaniels and Cincinnati offensive coordinator Hue Jackson.

Falcons defensive coordinator Richard Smith is not ranked.

Thats not to bad at all considering it's both OC and DC i can live with that and his ranking should sky rocket now that he is with a team with this many weapons. Think about it like this before we got Koetter he wouldn't have been anywhere near this list and we got him to top 15 almost. so now we have a guy who hasn't had anything like this at his disposal lately and he is already top 20.

Now also with that said our Defensive caller would be on that list in the top 3 or so in Dan Quinn if he wasn't excluded for being a head coach :D

Kyle's always been a very good OC, and he's only gotten better despite the continual decrease in talent to work with. His problem was not playing well with others when he wasn't given enough control. Hopefully that's not an issue here.

He might be the thing I'm most excited about this year, besides Quinn himself. Kyle just fits perfectly with what our offensive players are right now. Can't wait to see what he can do with players as good as we have on offense.

Agree... just look at the staff that has been assembled all of the coaches are fired up type of coaches. Nothing like Coach Smith staff where you had different methods of coaching... This staff is all from one bloodline. "Fast & Physical"
