Soccer sucks...

Bring hockey back Blank!!!

at least in hockey you see some blood or a flying tooth here and there.

I guess he's hoping that the increasing hispanic population in GA will get behind the team.

I for one will not be watching.... unless they start winning or I get free tickets

If you like hockey, then soccer shouldn't be too bad. Sports that build up up to a goal are much better live and in person rather than watching on TV. However, we do have great soccer bars in Atlanta if you're in the area. When the BPL (England) starts back up, soccer bars such as Fado, Meehan's Downtown, Brewhouse Cafe, etc all show the games in the morning, which gives people an excuse to drink on Saturday mornings.

Zone 7; I see you are a LFC fan. Meehan's Downtown is where the LFC Supporters Club of Atlanta meets for every Premier League game if you're in the area and interested.

Don't care for the name. Feels like they just went with a corporate white wash after their focus groups or whatever came up empty. Terminus FC would have been awsome but Walking Dead kind of ruined the name. Should've just shortened it to Atlanta FC. United FC is just silly and nonsensical. What is it we're uniting? We're neither uniting multiple clubs or multiple cities.

I guess it's supposed to "unite" Atlanta? Technically, it would be uniting ATL as in the whole metro area, which has different city names for all cities involved. That's my best guess. Speaking of being repetitive, Arsenal FC, Liverpool FC, NYC FC, FC Dallas, Toronto FC, etc, leaving just the FC would still fall into the class of repetitiveness.

Yeah but it's stands for Football Club which is what we are (although you could argue that in a league who's official title is Major League Soccer it's kind of silly to insist on calling it football) but united is usually supposed to have some historical context to it like Minnesota FC United (the twin cities Minneapolis and St Paul)

Guess will have to wait for the official announcement to see what they can come up with.

At least we didn't go with "Real". Unless there's a King of Utah I don't know about who bestowed a royal charter or something along those lines to the team in Salt Lake City there's nothing remotely "royal" about your MLS team. It's a pure case of appropriating Spanish league for brand recognition in a way that makes no sense.

Unless of course their differentiating themselves from "fake" Salt Lake.... in which case touche

Agreed. Then they formed a "partnership" with Real Madrid to somewhat build their reputation, which just made the whole situation more lame.

DC United makes sense because the Washington Metro area incorporates DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia (and it flows nicely). Not so much Atlanta, even though it is a diverse city (but that can be said for many other cities as well). Terminus FC sounds pretty good (wonder who came up with that?), and I would have been fine with Atlanta FC (Atlanta is a pretty nice name in itself). Atlanta United...is just blah. Has no ring or anything.

Terminus is one of the original names of the city before Atlanta. I'm not a gigantic fan of the name either, but I can live with it. It's much less corny to go this route rather than for example, Atlanta Firebirds FC. It's just better to have a traditional name for the club then have the fans come up with a secondary name.

Soccer really does suck. You can watch a game for like 3 hrs and the game ends with a tie.... which happens more often.

I've watched the sport, and even play the games depending on the league. Football isn't boring lol.

In fact I'd rather see Real Madrid vs Real Sociedad ending at a tie. Then watch Minnesota vs 76ers or Knicks, or Lakers, or Bobcats or.......................

I dont find soccer boring at all. The only sports I find more exciting are Football and maybe MMA.

Baseball and Basketball are infinitely more boring, IMO.

Baseball is only so boring cause time length, and it's sad cause in the early part of the 2000's or late 90's wasn't the game only like 2 hours long.

Basketball is a whole different beast in of itself. I've had more fun watching the hawks this pass season then I did for awhile. Team play is better than ISO play, and I think that's how most feel.

It doesn't help that game has slowed down because of ticky tack calls, and in my opinion one too many timeouts to.

Plus as others have stated before the state of the NBA right now they need to stretch out the games, and drop at least 5-15 games.

Unless the talent picks up just comparing the NFL to NBA every year a team that did bad comes back to form the next. You only have a few teams in NFL that are annual losers like Jacksonville.
