MSalmon
My .02 on the Defensive Roster. Now I'm fully aware that we could add vets post cuts or make trades. So this is a very early predictionsusing the 14 Seahawks initial Depth chart as a reference:5T1b Tony McDaniel 6'7, 310 (insert Tyson Jackson 6'4" 310ish)NT1b Brandon Mebane 6'1, 305 (insert Paul Soliali 6'4" 330ish)3T1b Kevin Williams 6'5, 311 (Insert Hageman 6'6" 305ish)3T/5T Michael Bennett 6'4, 275 (Insert Clayborn same measurable )3T/NT/5T Greg Scruggs 6'3, 310 (Insert goodman 6'4" 275ish)DTn Jordan Hill 6'1, 300 (insert Babs close to same)**i guess it would come down to Mbu, Goodman or Matthews. In my opinion Matthews is toast. Goodman has potential, as does Mbu. Possibly Mbu sees PSOn TJax, If Quinn and Smith utilize that red bryant jumbo DE package he's critical. Even if for 2 downs. Putting his salary in perspective, he's only averaging 5 m per year that's not huge money. Defensive Line InteriorEdge rushers/SAM (5):LEO/DE Cliff Avril 6'3,260 (Insert Beasley 6'2" 245ish)LEO/LB O'Brien Schofield 6'3,242 (stays same)LEO/DTn Cassius Marsh 6'4, 265 (Kroy 6'4" 250ish)SLBb Bruce Irvin 6'3, 255 (insert brooks Reed close to same 6'4" 260ishSLB Mike Morgan 6'3, 226 (insert Maponga? 6'1" 250ish)** Does some unknown beat Maponga or Kroy? Does Starr make it? I'm guessing Kroy and Maponga Linebackers (5)WLB1 K.J.Wright 6'4, 246 (insert Durant)MLB1 Bobby Wagner 6'0, 241 (insert Worrilow)SLB1 Malcolm Smith 6'0, 230 (insert Bartu?)MLB Brock Coyle 6'1, 235 (Akune?)WLB Kevin Pierre-Louis 6'0, 232 (insert Spruill?)*** the LB corps is where I'm really struggling with who makes what. Stupor is great STs but that's it. I'm being bold and saying Akune makes roster as he can play SLB or MLB. Bartu and Spruill bring sped to rotation. And Bartu has pass rush ability. That said no guarantee that Spruill makes rosterDefensive Backs (9)Keep:CB1 Richard Sherman 6'3, 195 (insert Trufant)CB2 Byron Maxwell 6'1,2 07 (insert Jalen Collins)FS1 Earl Thomas 5'10, 202 (insert Ricardo Allen)SS1 Kam Chancellor 6'3,232 (insert Willy Mo)NB1 Jeremy Lane 6'0, 190 (insert Alford)CB Marcus Burley, 5'10, 189 (insert Akeem king)CB3 Tharold Simon 6'2, 205 (insert Dez Southward)FS2 DeShawn Shead 6'1, 225 (insert Robenson Therize)SS2 Jeron Johnson 5'10, 212 (insert00 (insert Parmens )***ok, I get roasted here by some because I have 2 UDFAs taking over for Godfrey and Ishmael. Let me start by saying it's because they both suck. Parms is a much more physical and better athlete than Ishmael. He is a big framed kid that'll be a 220-225 lb box safety. Great tackler and solid hitter--Ish ain't. He's a too slow FS. And ain't a big hitter at SS. Therize can straight up fly, has range STs value and can play SS as well. He was used wrong at Auburn. He comes around Ricardo better watch his back. He's a FS in this scheme. But that speed at the very least translates to STsSorry guys, but if you argue for Godfrey or Ish--well, get bifocals when you watch the gamesThoughts and discussion! falconcrest58
Not bad ...don't see the FA safety playing much or at all and Bartu won't see the field ahead of Reed
MSalmon
Not bad ...don't see the FA safety playing much or at all and Bartu won't see the field ahead of ReedI agree. Probably STs. Might see Reed moved around or Bartu getting in at WLB or MLB

Pacific_Falcon
Lol watch Kroy make teamI know man just having fun. I think Quinn may be able to use him with less facepalms this year, but with his age and limited ability, I hope he's a 1 year stopgap until we can get a better option. I expect we'll be looking for another pass rusher next year as well--which is a good thing. Unless TD pulls off a crazy trade lol

Rather have an upside player or a vetIsh is 5'11 206 decent size, natural position SS but but shined in spurts (4 ints) at FS in his first season starting. I don't see King or any other aforementioned dbs automatically taking his spot. He's not the fastest but he will hit and always around the ball. He was an adequate starter on this D last year. Atlfanstckndenver
Ish has zero upside. He's slow, undersized and ok. I think he makes the team, but all of the talk regarding him and the free safety position I never bought into.
hjerry
I refuse to believe/predict that any UDFA is taking a roster spot away from a vet, base solely on college tape. They'll have to impress once PS rolls around, and they can play against NFL level comp.
Lornoth
Ish was arguably our second best defensive player last year, and we're cutting him? I don't care about his height or 40 time, he has the two most important things a safety needs; Instincts and Spirit. Even if he's not starting/getting a large amount of snaps (which would be a shame imo) he's a great backup.

He has traits of both types, and Quinn will find use for a player like that.
RandomFan
You don't have Jarrett making the roster. He will. You have Goodman at 275 and on the DL when he's been asked to report for camp at 265 and is going to be an edge rusher. Goodman will be battling with Maponga for a roster spot - advantage Goodman. You very well could be right with Therezie over Goodman, but we'll see. However, you are off your rocker if you think Ishmael is not making this roster if healthy. Not only is he going to make the roster, but he'll be pushing Moore for the starting job - and at the very least replacing him when Moore misses his obligatory allotment of games. We have a practice squad for players like Parms. Edited June 25, 2015 by RandomFan
FalconFanSince1970
Salmon you know I love you bro but you need to go watch tapes of the guys you're just "inserting" for SEA players. Laughable.

I forgot Jarrett...agree he'll make it...I'm not an ish guy...I don't see him as FS which obviously looks like he ain't starting...he's not an in the box guy, he's not really a Wiley vet...so don't get love on him. Parma btw is a better prospect for a SS than ish. Therize is a better prospect at FS than ish was. Plus at FS you still have king or Dez that could make squad as cb who sees time at FS.Ish =cutBack to Jarrett, who I'm not sure why I forgot. Who's not making it for him to be on roster? Goodman? One less Leo (like Maponga?)
MSalmon
Salmon you know I love you bro but you need to go watch tapes of the guys you're just "inserting" for SEA players. Laughable.Lol note not exact matches ...our secondary on cb side is shaping up similar. I fear our true LBs are sorely lacking. I ain't seeing a Wagner or KJ wright. Interior DLs are not dissimilar. Soliali is a good NT and TJax is a pretty good 5 tech. I like Hageman over McDaniels or the aging Williams. Jarret may be a stud.LEO you see the Vic and even Reed being good and of course schoffield. I'm not a huge Kroy fan, don't like Maponga and hoping Clayborn stays healthy--is well hopingIf Clayborn rebounds we look a lot better

primetime
You are so far off base about Ish it's comical imho. No way in **** he doesn't make the team as our primary backup SS. He'll get every chance to start at FS also. Ish will get on the field as he's a player. He might not have the measurables of a Godfrey or Southy but he has the one key ingredient they sorely lack - InstinctsThe rest is pretty good except Jarret obviously - I don't see Maponga making it. Have you also got the primary nickel cb in? - forget his name right now (Allen maybe?)
