One could argue that there's a reason for that. But Ryan has also been held back -- especially in recent years -- by a weak supporting cast. The Falcons made a strong personnel hire in offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, who should do wonders for a running game that has been stuck in the mud for years. With some more help, could Ryan's fortune turn the way it did for another underappreciated eight-letter QB? Said Gregg Rosenthal on the podcast: "He's overdue for a monster season. Ryan is a little like Tony Romo, where he's better than his overall reputation. If things work right, I can see him having an MVP caliber season." Da_Truth
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000498478/article/the-superstar-club-2015-who-arrives-who-leavesBut Ryan has also been held back -- especially in recent years -- by a weak supporting cast.To all the media talking heads that have criticized Ryan as though he can take the Falcons on his back to the Superbowl...it's simply nonsense. NO QB, I repeat, NO QB can take their team to the SB by himself. Not Rodgers, Manning, Brady, Brees or any other QB that has won a SB. What did they have the Ryan hasn't? A HC who doesn't sit on leads and lacks in-game adjustments, an OC who isn't predictable and runs the same plays over and over, a DC who can design a defense that doesn't require you to be a rocket scientist to learn, and a front office who can find players who aren't other teams' rejects (and can build their own). It's called a team for a reason. Don't get me wrong, Ryan has made his share of boneheaded plays. But, put Ryan on any of the teams that has had what he hasn't (strong coaching and supporting staff) and I can assure you he would have a SB ring by now. I'm looking forward to see what the new staff can do with this team as a whole.
Brewcrew
I'm not worried about Ryan at all... More worried about o-line and running game. Take care of those two things and even if Ryan is not statistically as good we will win more games and score more points. We already know that Matt and Julio will get theirs, but one sided offenses just can't consistently win big games in this league. Just look at New England last playoffs... 51 passing attempts to 11 rushing attempts against Baltimore and then 35 passing attempts to 40 rushing attempts the very next week against Indianapolis. Offenses HAVE to be able to exploit the defenses weakness.

I'm hoping for an Oline rejuvenation. If not, this season may only be a slight improvement over 2013-2014.Run Matt Run. Stay healthy my friend. I love the getthehellouttadodge moves you pulled out last year. Saved five sacks in game one alone. You'll need em this year with all the stretch boots, waggles and sprints. Shanny's ZBSs have never really been known for great pass pro. Run bro.
JayOzOne
My only concern about Ryan is that he's a great team mate, but a guy who leads by example. I wish sometimes that he would get p***ed off at some of his guys or his situation and just vent. There have been too many times when he's taken shots while trying to set up for a pass and I'd love it if he'd grab a lineman on the sideline and tell him that he'd rather get sacked from 100% of a backup's insufficient effort than 50% effort from a starter. Be a little bit more of a prick if that's what it takes to light a fire. These guys practice all week after nearly a lifetime learning fundamentals and now they're at the highest level and failing to get the job done? Ryan should suggest a series where he plays tackle and lets a lineman set up in the backfield. It's nothing short of amazing that he's not had significant injury in his career. Even when Suh tried to hurt him, he came back on the next play and led us to a win. I love this dude.

I don't think we should keep slabbing the online togetherness with spare parts but it ain't like he is injury prone. I still remember the shot he took at BC where his helmet flew off. Lornoth
CJ Spiller has been poised for a big year his whole career. Then he hits the field and is immediately carted off it again.

Yep
I kinda agree. I think he is at the crossroad for very good and peyton/Aaron Rodgers levelHere we go again...Ryan will never get to Rodgers level. Rodgers best QB in NFL history.Saying Ryan is like Rodgers is like saying Roddy White is like Jerry Rice. There have been times when White has been one of the top WRs in the NFL, but he's still at a different level from NFL greats. Yep
He can get close enough it doesn't matter. You don't have to be close to Rodgers level to win Superbowl we know that. But the comparison is ludicrous. Like saying Mario Williams is gonna play at JJWatt level.

He is the best QB in the league but it's not like he is so far ahead no one is close to him. Brady Peyton and AR are universally regarded as the best with guys like Breed, Rivers, Big Been sprinkled in behind them in different orders. Ryan can come close to,those 3 to me

He's arguably not the best QB of right now.You don't have to be close to Rodgers level to win Superbowl we know that. But the comparison is ludicrous. Vandy
Super Mario does play pretty close to Watt's level.Yes he does. Sure wish we had found a way to swayed him our way when he was out there. Things would be alot different if we had.
