All This Pre-Draft Talk About Beasley's Size Was Ridiculous

Recommended Posts

From all accounts so far, people have been talking about how big and fast the guy looks out at mini-camp. I think that #3 he wore at Clemson made people sub-consciencly perceive the guy as smaller than what he actually was.

So what if he starts his career as a 3rd down specialist. If he can help get this team off the field on third down, he'll be worth the 8th overall selection. I honestly believe he will be a double-digit sack guy this year.

The emphasis people put on an inch and 5-10 pounds is ridiculous.

was reading about grady jarrett the other day how he was undersized at the draft at 6'0 305, then read another article about someone 6'2 310 and how they have ideal size lol, these guys are so big and so active that their weight fluctuates alot. Also the "supplements" they take can cause alot of gain/loss in and out of their playing cycles. Alot of it is really over blown

So true - we have been atrocious at 3rd down for along time.

All the hot air about a player's size reminds me of one of the most VICIOUS hitters ever to play in the NFL......Lester Hayes, CB for the Raiders in the 70's and 80's.

He was 6' tall, 200 lbs. and could put anybody on IR with one hit.

Anybody.

One h.ell of a DB, a pure football wrecking machine.

200 lbs.

To be fair, that was also an era of 270 pound offensive linemen and d-tackles. Daunte Culpepper was actually just about the same weight as Mean Joe Green.

Beasley's size concerns were more about his lower base and overall body composition from what I remember. They were quelled when he came in heavier with the same explosiveness at the combine anyways though.

$5 says he has a better year than Fowler... ohmy.png

No because Dante is so good he can sack people from the sidelines..... At least that's what the people that wanted him think.
