Yeah I can't believe there are folks here that don't want to pony up to keep Julio. Stupidity at its finest.

Man if it was me I'd be handing over the check before the **** ink dried. I want to see him, roddy and Matt falcons for life. If roddy goes somewhere else my 7 yr old daughter is gonna be heartbroken. She's all about 81.

Did you not read that he didn't want to leave? Deion said that.

And you seriously believe that BS?

I'm glad he's reaching back to the team that gave him his start, but the truth is he couldn't wait to leave ATL and leave for a team that had a legit chance at SB.

He went to Canton as a Falcon so why would'nt he represent us hard.

In the NFL, players don't go into the HoF as a member of one team. The busts show the players without a helmet.

When Deion Sanders was inducted, he made a point to note that his children were in the audience wearing the jerseys of each of the teams he played for (Atlanta, S.F., Dallas, Washington and Baltimore).

I can actually vividly remember watching that gif I posted on television. I was so excited.

I remember being at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium, when the very first time he got a chance to return a punt in his career, he drops it, picks it back up, runs right by every players on the field me as he scored the TD. I hadn't heard that stadium that loud in a decade. John Madden called him the best open field runner he'd ever seen play football.

That moment will forever be blazed in my memory every bit as much as the time Morton kicked that FG through the uprights in the NFCCG in 1998.

i love Deon, but Vick was a cancer. the man had unreal ability, but he killed the team. bone headed moves on and off the field. biggest, greatest player the falcons have ever drafted... Deon, Nobis and Andrews.... and i think Ryann, white and Julio will all be added to that list...

The story goes like this...Deion was tight with the son of the owner, Taylor Smith. Deion's contract came up, and Smith knew he would have to pay Deion to keep him. Now one thing we know for sure about the Smiths: they hated to pay players other than QBs. Throw in Deion's baseball playing, and what you get is the Smiths not minding if Deion left. Back then in the NFL, there were two pretty dominant start studded teams, San Fran and Dallas. Every NFL player wanted to play for San Fran including Deion. Sanders used his relationship with Taylor Smith to make a 'handshake' arrangement...Deion would be allowed to become a FA. When Deion got an offer, Smith would be allowed to make a counter offer in order to keep Deion. This was Deion's way of getting what he wanted...a chance to play with Super Bowl caliber teams...and a way for Smith to avoid paying Sanders while shifting blame to Deion for Deion leaving the team with -no- compensation for the Falcons. Both Smith and Deion got what they wanted. San Fran paid Sanders a paltry one million for one season....no way Smith does not exceed that, but Sanders ended up playing with San Fran in the Super Bowl, then got paid when he signed with Dallas. Really I cannot blame Sanders for wanting to go, he was never going to a Super Bowl and becoming more famous with the Smiths running the team.

So now Sanders is saying Atlanta is his favorite place? I see it like this...Sanders has said, he wanted to run a team as a GM. Sanders' best chance of that happening is to be a GM for a team he played for who kknows him. What chance is there of that happening in Dallas? Zero. San Fran? Who would want to be a GM of a team with that sorry ownership? Washington? Snyder runs that team. Baltimore? They have the best GM in football. No, Sanders best chance of being a GM is Arthur Blank. So sure, Sanders is talking up the Falcons, buttering up AB. The bad news is, Sanders becoming a GM here could happen. :(

I never said who was better. I would even agree that Ryan's output has surpassed Vicks long ago. However do you know what the word "transcendent" means? Does Matt Ryan transcend local sports? Do people talk about him outside of football? Do kids wear "Air Ryans"? Im not even really a huge Vick fan but when he was here, he was a spectacle. Just an observation. People around here get all clammy and huffy when Vick's name is even brought up no matter the context.

The problem here is that you are mixing the terms transcendent talent, and transcendent athlete. The talent is all about on the field pay. A transcendent athlete is someone who transcends the realm of sports. Like you said as an example Vick. Julio in my opinion is a transcendent talent. Just my thoughts.

Heya Monoxide...I don't make up things for the fun of it, ok. Deion Sanders is on record as saying, he wanted to come back to the Falcons one day, run the team, and take it to the Super Bowl. With the Smiths around, that very well might have happened, the part about Sanders running the team, at least. While I don't think that will happen with AB, well....I didn't think Sanders would be in our ROH, either. Sanders is still a competitor, his coming back to play with Baltimore shows that. I am sure it would fit Sanders ego to become the first man ever to play in a Super Bowl, a World Series and to GM a team to the Super Bowl. It would make Sanders an all-time great.

Who cares? I'm not looking for hype, I'm looking for quality football players. And boring-*** Matt Ryan is a significantly better football player than Mike Vick.
