Jun 15 - 2:12 PMSource: Ian Rapoport on TwitterWith Baker's release that will probably result in the two biggest staples of our o line the last three years retiring in one off season. (I think baker will retire personally)The winds of change are truly picking up. It's a new age for our o line, and I for one welcome it with open arms. AndySG
Should have been picked up by somebody, but glad that we moved on.
rugger8
I'm actually very surprised that he didn't get interest in FA.He wasn't bad, and he would have been a solid mid-offseason FA pick up for the right system.
AndySG
Apparently lions, rams and titans were interested.
KRUNKuno
Blalock had a down year, but was still serviceable. This is interesting.
Atlfanstckndenver
If I where him id retire feeling pretty fulfilled about my pro football career. There where numerous occasions where Blalock was the only certainty our o line had. He can still play, but I think he'd be in for a sharp drop off. I wish the best for both him and Baker. birdz4i
might as well, he made some money and still healthy. could get some interest as camp injuries happen, but best of luck to him, whatever he does.
GTBF54
Class act....“I’d like to sincerely thank the Atlanta Falcons, all my teammates and especially the fans,” Blalock said in a statement posted on Twitter when he was released. “I’ve had an unbelievable 8 years and only wish I could have helped bring a championship to the ATL.”http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/06/15/justin-blalock-retiring-from-nfl/related/

slamee101
Yea, as much as we needed to move on I'm a bit surprised he didn't land somewhere. Maybe they just weren't contenders and weren't offering much so he said he'd rather sit. Certainly serviceable. Good chance Baker and Blalock are done playing. Good chance Baker and Blalock are done playing.I was thinking the same thing, but he was linked to the Lions, and I would personally consider them "contenders". Seems that a team like Buffalo, Washington, Miami, Philadelphia, or New England would've check in on him, too.Oh well... maybe the money wasn't right for him to warrant risking the wear & tear on his body. I wish him a happy and healthy life in retirement! I'll remember him fondly as a lifelong Falcon -- a solid second round pick who wound up being one of our better offensive linemen over the past decade. ryanadonis
Blalock was a great player who deserved better to be honest. He was consistent and healthy his whole career. Mike Smith and Co. ****** with this offense so much after the 08 season, that Blalock didn't get a chance to fulfill his potential. I met his parents before my flight from Dallas to Atlanta for the NFCCG and his parents were surprised by how much I knew about Justin. I wish JB the best and I wish he could of stayed a Falcon
