I don't really see anyone "gushing" over him in this thread.I enjoy these types of threads myself because it gives me players to key in on during the preseason.

Exactly. I don't think many on this MB quite understands. After the draft is settled, now you are players. Its time to see what you got.

Goodman hasn't done much up to this point, but to be fair he's been used wrong also. I think Quinn will make him productive.

Goodman's done more than his stat line indicates by the way he was being used. I've seen some good play out of him and with two old college teammates and him being back at his natural position and playing weight we should see a huge differnce from him this season. I don't think the previous regime hampered his potential by using him the way they did. At least I hope not. We'll see where he's at when camp starts. I just love the fact that it will be a super competitive camp.

I don't feel one way or another about Goodman. He will either make it or he won't. Never did like the pick though. No big, I'm just glad everyone will have to rise up or walk away.

Yea me too. Whatever the roster ends of being it should def be the best of the best the way quinn and staff evaluate players.

Wondering how we rotate.

Yea me too. The way we rotate will be crucial to the season. The right combinations will be deadly. Quinn is good at finding those combo's. First time the defense has had me excited since Asante's first season with him, grimes and Dunta. We didn't get to see what they defense would've been at full capacity since grimes missed the whole season. Maybe having grimes all year we win one or two more regular season games and he's the X factor to the superbowl as we could've had a solution for the TE's in the playoffs.

Huh?

The homers on this board, all they do is gush over everyone, especially UDFA's. I mean I love this team, but it cracks me up every year watching so many people on these boards go bananas over late round draft picks and UDFA's.

How many depth charts have people posted since the draft with like 5+ UDFA's making the 53? I'd bet dollars to donuts there's at least a dozen or more.

All you have to do is post a guy's profile and some highlight vids and there will be 10+ people in that thread saying how much they love, or have fallen in love with, that guy and think he'll make the team and contribute somehow. ****, some will even insist they should start.

So many people here are out of touch with reality, it's just funny to watch.

Not sure you should judge so harshly, considering all the UDFA's that have made the team and started the last few years.

So Worrilow, Bartu, and Schraeder from 2013, and Stone from last year. And we had none make the team in 2011 or 2012. And only Antone Smith in 2010.

5 UDFA's in 5 years and 3 of those from 2013. How does that come close to refuting what I said?

Again, go look at all the depth charts people here have posted. More than half of them have 5+ UDFA's supposedly making the 53.

Ume-Ezoeke, Mbu, White, Therezie, Mincy, Lefeld, Akunne, Anyama, Ward, Gardner, and Wynn... Some combination of 5 or 6 of them are supposedly making the 53 according to the average depth chart posted here.

I mean it's just silly. 2013 was an anomaly and it still only had 3. And none of those 3 actually dressed on game day until someone got injured in front of them. They were PS players until then. And not a single UDFA from 2011 and 2012 is anywhere on the current roster.

All those guys I just listed, they'll be lucky if even 1 makes the 53 and 3 or 4 others makes the PS.

It's the off season man and yeah there are a lot of homers on here. Most guys on here are just your average everyday fan and a lot of the time they are going to be overly optimistic about pretty much everything. I tend to lean toward that crowd myself but we do have several guys with a more realistic view and if that's what you're looking for I'm sure they'd love to discuss the team with you.

The off season is a time to reload, reassess and become optimistic about your team. Anyone with an ounce of sense realized we needed help. In many positions. And the realists also knew it would take a couple of seasons to change the team in a more stable direction. Im a realist, and know we are a team in transition. Having said that, I am tremendously impressed with this off season. On paper we have made a staggering change for the better.

After all is said and done, the field is where we will see this change. I think our new staff is higher on some players than many of the armchair head coaches we have here. I am quietly optimistic that this team will show up on Sundays and bring **** with them.

I get excited over UDFA's all the time. Not exactly what the majority here would call a "homer" though...LOL!!!

I just wish we would add a bruiser...doesn't matter. I have been told Coleman is expected to make use of the 3rd down role, with Freeman as the starter, Antone as the utility back, and its still in the air who the FB will be. Coleman is to do short yardage as well as other 3rd down roles.

Agreed.

I still don't see the guy on the roster who's going to get 3 yards no matter what. Until we have that guy, I'm not content with our RBs. I don't mind having a guy like Freeman/Coleman, but I don't see them as bell cows. I'm not a fan, generally speaking, of the 200-210lb back. (No need for anyone to post a list of all the exceptions to that; I know there are plenty.)
