Rita Testifies For 8 Hours Against Benson

After listening to his granddaughter testify for eight hours in an attempt to have him legally ruled incompetent, Saints owner Tom Benson said all is fine.

Benson, who has been in court this week for a competency trial, told the Times-Picayune that he’s only bothered by the case because it’s taking up so much of his time. Rita LeBlanc, the granddaughter who was spurned when Benson wrote her out of his will, testified for eight hours on Wednesday.

“Everything’s going fine,” Benson said. “Just taking a lot of my time, that’s all. I got better things to do.”

Thats sad. If i had a family member testify for 8 hours against me id be sad and pissed.

My concern is that this drags out so long he actually will be incompetent at this point. I have not been this nervous since 2006 where I had legit fears of losing this team. If the 3 R's get control over this team, its just a matter of time.

I know you are trying to troll, but even you have to realize that the chances of an existing owner moving a franchise that is making good money and filling the seats overseas is remote at best. its one thing to fill seats for a once or twice a year event and completely different to sell those PSLs and season tickets. NFL Europe wasn't exactly bursting with fans in the seats

it would be a team like Jacksonville that has nothing to lose or a new expansion team

Actually im not. chances of an existing owner, no one said Rita is that smart. if they had backers for it and it money wise it worked. Who knows what she could do. Also i do agree is the chances are more likely its a jags team with a weird owner and doesnt have a strong fan base or team currently. That of course would be down the line so that would mean they would have to still stink years down the road.

But years down the road will only bring the NFL closer to wanting a global market. Canada, Mexico could also be destinations. Even madden has options to move teams there. I know its not realistic or smart to do it. But eventually i can see it happening.

2) the Saints have a far stronger regional, not just local, fanbase and attendance

3) New Orleans is a popular Super Bowl host

now I would say that the NFL would probably want them overseas before they would want them in San Antonio

I'm not so much worried about the NFL relocating the Saints as its been pointed out there are other more viable options. Its that Rita and company reside in or around SA and a lot of people close say that's their preferred destination. It stands to reason that at some point they might eye a move. Anytime a Court has to settle something like this I just don't think its a good thing.

Just looking at recent franchise transactions between family it does not bode well for the future. See The lakers and the Busses and The Yankees and Steinbrenners as examples. Frankly the next generation of Owners scare the crap out of me.

If Rita wins, the Saints are gone to whoever will pay the biggest price. The reason why, to stick it to Tom if he loses for firing her and to make him as miserable as possible. I wouldn't even rule out London because I believe Rita is a vindictive little B. that would see this as an opportunity to line her pockets and possibly kill her grandfather from a broken heart, even with Gale by his side. So sad!

There's just no way. As it sits, every team that goes overseas gets the next week off as their bye... can't imagine the BS if teams have to continually fly in and out of Europe.

Exactly in 06 it took 1 hurricane to make them almost bail on the state. So Who knows what Others might do when they take over the team. Even Payton moved his family out of there and moved to Dallas. Before getting divorced.

Right now Loomis and Payton have the majority of the power. But you never know what the future holds.
