falconidae
It's June 2, he can be cut. I hope they aren't holding onto him because they're worried about Matthew's foot.
falcndave
Probably holding onto him because he's better than average when healthy?
Ovie_Lover
We have more than enough cap room, why cut him instead of letting him compete and see if he stays healthy? If he's healthy we have a decent backup LTif he's hurt then same ole same ole
Romfal
June 1st was on May 12, so no no need to cut him until he loses a job fair and square.
k-train
June 1st is irrelevant this year. We could've cut him with the same type of designation & shifting of finances about two weeks ago.He is here because we gain nothing by cutting him. We are not desperate for cap space, so why not keep him around as depth if nothing else?
Francis York Morgan
Baker has never been more than average even when healthy, he just sucked so much worse the years he wasn't healthy that we didn't realize it. Dude is straight garbage and I will be ecstatic when that soft goob is off the team. Just a reminder of the worst parts of the last few years. Sorry Sam, but dammit, prove something and maybe people won't trash you.

Sorry Sam, but dammit, prove something and maybe people won't trash you. This is just not true IMO. He was above average when healthy. Problem is he's been injured more often than healthy. With this said I'd be fine with cutting him because chances are he won't play 16 games even if he does win a starting spot

Francis York Morgan
You can make the same statement about Jake Matthews in some of those games last yearYeah, because one rookie year of middling compared to 5 years of awful, 1 year of decent, and 1 good year makes sense. Lmao. This is just not true IMO. He was above average when healthy. Problem is he's been injured more often than healthy. With this said I'd be fine with cutting him because chances are he won't play 16 games even if he does win a starting spotIf "above average" means capable of being a top 25 NFL starter LT, maybe. If it means top 15 NFL OT, nope. Just no. Not in a million years no.
birdz4i
have you seen a post saying he has been cut? guess that answers your question.
bigbabygrady
Jake Matthews could re-injure his foot and then we have no legit LT. and you want to cut Sam Baker why? to free up cap room that Dimitroff won't use anyway, ok

He's been working hard on his stamina.
falconidae
Actually, what I should have said is, is Baker still around because they're worried about Matthews foot?
FalconFanSince1970
Probably holding onto him because he's better than average when healthy? He's only been above average once in his seven seasons. That was in a contract year. And he was barely above average because he couldn't run block. If Bloodline is still hurt or plays like he did last year we will need Sackmaker. slamee101
Baker getting cut was a pipe dream. Never believed for a second he was gone but as someone else pointed out the Matthews injury makes our Tackle situation dicey and makes Baker more valuable. Even if he is one of the message board whipping boys.
Duff_Man
I can't believe Sam Baker tried to be injured.

We can never count on that happening again but his problem wasn't talent or skill by any means.
RandomFan
If Baker wins the RT job in camp, then he'll be here. If he doesn't win a starting job, he'll be cut. Should be pretty obvious.
falconsrus
Well he is not "active" on the field yet so...
HxC Falcon2
I don't understand why people are even talking about a player who has done nothing but get hurt almost every season since being drafted. He should be cut asap
Truth B Told (TRU)
Baker has been playing in a Man Blocking Scheme (MBS) since being drafted. His body nor skills were built for that. He's better suited to play in the ZBS, if not he would've been on the same waiver wire with Justin Blalock the day he got cut. Only difference is Baker would have been designated a June 1st cut (now May 12th).
