Jigglypuff
sign here to express your support for reinstating Danny Ferry as GM of the Atlanta Hawks. The man put together a history making team for the city and it is only year 2 of the revamp. If the new owners fire him I will be severely disappointed and consider them traitors to the fan base. etherdome
I don't know the man, but he has done an excellent job with the personnel. In my book, he deserves a second chance.

Guest
I'm down with this there are far worse things that have transpired since Danny made just remarks at this pointOf all the GM's we've had I'm not saying he's just the worlds greatest or anything like that, but in the History of Atlanta Hawks Basketball I'll take him over Rick Sund and Billy Knight do we want to be in Brooklyn shoes again or do we want to be the GS Warriors one day? All you got to do is tell me this is the team that Danny Ferry built that got to 60-22 and a ECF berth maybe not win, but **** it close enough for now. Until he ****s up about 2 more drafts okay then let's fire him, but at least he struck gold on Dennis Schro so far, and the FA circuit too. AEFalcon
With all that went down last year & with new ownership, they probable will opt to fire him and hire "their guy". However, you can't argue with the team build, chemistry and results on the floor. I would interested to hear the players thoughts but I think he is worth giving another shot. Basically if this ownership fires DF and puts in someone they like, and this guy goes in and messes everything up they become ASG -3.0 automatically. That's what I'm afraid of it's like nothing has gone wrong yet we've improved WHY FIX SOMETHING IF IT ISN'T BROKEN!That's why I said if it's up to me Danny Ferry suspended himself he's felt bad for what he's said and done, and not only that HE HAS NO HISTORY CAN WE STOP being pissed off forming Lynch Mobs for everything? As a black guy myself I was somewhat offended by his remarks, but after seeing stuff happen afterwards that's the least of my problems. Want to be pissed off at something be pissed off at the police seesh!
AF89
Wouldn't mind having him back but it's not the end of the world if he leaves either. As good as he's been managing our cap and finding quality starters by scraping the bottom of the barrel (although make no mistake it's our system that allows these guys to succeed as much as anything else) He's been very poor in the 1st round of the draft outside of Dennis. We'd be in big trouble if we didn't have these low budget guys drafted by other teams come in and give us big production. He also hasn't shown the ability to attract the attention of any of the league's superstars but that may or may not be a bad thing given how they control the makeup of your roster once they're in and it's not like that's (attracting a star) is easy to do if your aren't the Lakers or something. In my mind he's still the guy that came in and in less than 42 hours of moves took us from one of the worst cap leaden teams going nowhere to a team with tons of cap room, a bright future and swindled the the Nets out of a 1st round pick to do it. So for that if nothing else I still want to see what else he can do, especially now that the Hawk brand has some cache to it. But if he has to be sacrificed at the alter of good business so we can move forward so be it although I hope that isn't the case.

youngbloodz
Ferry isn't to blame for the inability to attract superstars in FA. Atlanta porous ownership is to blame imo. But Atlanta has never attracted a superstar in FA. They definitely need one to compete for a title

But Atlanta has never attracted a superstar in FA. They definitely need one to compete for a titleI think they really need to start getting into the max offer sheet business. Yeah, durant, Aldridge, and guys like that might not come. But young bucks will follow the money. We've seen in the past if you offer a guy the 15ish mill max after his rookie deal, there's a 50% chance you get him. Of course you have to be careful not to get a Lin or Asik on your team. It's the best way for us to get a stud. Get them a year or two before they reach super stardom. Kawhi(not happeming), Butler, draymond green, Chandler Parsons, Gordon Hayward. Those are the type of guys we need to start focusing on. Just one of those guys on this team makes us infinitely better.
blkbigdog35
I think with a new owner and hopefully they can bring Ferry back, I don't see why we couldn't bring in one max guy that would fit the system. Butler would be the guy I would go very heard at right now. I think after the season we had I'm sure there are some Free agents who may want to come here now. Deadwood
Danny Ferry deserves to remain with the Hawks. He didn't make the statement about that player he just repeated the statement. Plus, one of the new Hawks owners , Grant Hill, went to Duke with him and I'm sure he can speak to Ferry's character.I'd rather keep Ferry and lose Millsap for example, because Ferry is as central to the Hawks new concept as Budenhoser is.I believe we will regret losing such a good GM over some ticky tacky foul. g-dawg
I truly believe if Danny Ferry gets fired - it won't be for the scouting report he read aloud in the meeting. It is clear that Gearon has it in for Danny Ferry - i heard 'Nique was not a fan either. Apparently Ferry can rub people the wrong way. When you stack up what Ferry did versus all the other racial stuff, it just does not measure up to a fireable offense for someone with his track record. There is no history, no pattern, no other allegations of racism. It is pretty dayum hard to be a basketball player and around the game for the last 30 years and be a racist. I don't believe Ferry is and I don't believe the owners nor the players nor the inner circle in the NBA believe it either. I also don't believe there would be a backlash by fans, players or sponsors - Ferry spent his time in exile and the punishment was probably over-the-top already. No, if Hawks new ownership go in a different direction, it will simply be because they don't like Ferry. And the rumor is he didn't want the Nique statue. Nique is the face of the franchise. He's the kind of guy you do whatever he asks just outta respect. Is he drawing in big name free agents? Etc.Nique is our most recognizable Hawk - that is all? If the bruhaha is about a freakin statue then I'm disappointed - we keep saying how it's all about TEAM and buying in - Nique should do the same. He said Nique is the face of the franchise - what is that doing to help the franchise? It's more than what happens on the court, it's also what happens in the front office and everybody being on the same page.
