Unknøwn
Its that time of the year when the rumor mill starts to heat up. Jeff Passan of Yahoo gave a list of top names you'll hear on the market. Hamels, Howard, Justin Upton, Gomez, Cueto, Chapman, Harang, Tulo and Zobrist were the players he pegged. Cubs are already said to be moving on Ben Zobrist. Padres struggles matched with the fact they share a division with the Dodgers and Giants have created speculation that they'll restock the farm some by exploring the J Upton market. jidady
We haven't talked about it much, but Upton has been terrific this year.
Unknøwn
Justin is also hitting .360 with 9 HR in Petco, thats impressive.
jidady
They had the right idea in trading for him. He's the rare power hitter who can knock 'em out in any park. If I were them, I'd be trying to extend rather than cutting the cord so quickly.
Falconsfan567
They won't get nearly the return for J-Up that they gave the Braves to get him.

Dawggone
If I was a Padres fan Id be upset. All the moves to be competitive, only to have people rumored to leave early June. Edited June 2, 2015 by Dawggone
K26dp
If I was a Padres fan Id be upset. All the moves to be competitive, only to have people rumored to leave early June.If I were a Padres fan, I would be wondering why anyone thought a team that had average to poor defensive players a literally every position would be successful. Or a team that was depending on Matt Kemp.Actually I'm wondering that and I'm not even a Padres fan. I never thought San Diego's moves made a lot of sense. I never thought San Diego's moves made a lot of sense.I realized that the Padres would be terrible defensively but I still thought with their pitching and offense that they would be able to overcome that and contend. I'm very disappointed in them. I'm also very disappointed in how bad Craig Kimbrel has been.

Falconsfan567
Trade seems to have really messed with him mentally.I can understand why. To get traded the day before the season is a real shock mentally for anyone. There's no time to adjust to it.
Psychic Gibbon
If I was a Padres fan Id be upset. All the moves to be competitive, only to have people rumored to leave early June. They're also 25-28 despite having Upton, who is having one of his best seasons so far, and Kimbrel, two players a lot of Braves fans thought were absolutely critical in order to compete this season. Instead we got the cream of the crop of their farm system, got Jace Peterson who has been productive for us and is on an upward trajectory, and got them to take Melvin and his entire contract off our hands. ****, even Maybin is exceeding expectations and could be sought after trade bait. K26dp
Oh yeah, they got Hunter Renfroe a power hitting OFIt would be incredible after not including Renfroe in trades for Justin Upton, Wil Myers, Matt Kemp, or Craig Kimbrel this offseason, they traded him in order to get back Cameron Maybin. Psychic Gibbon
Oh yeah, they got Hunter Renfroe a power hitting OFI forgot about him!In all seriousness though, maybe they could flip Maybin to get some relief pitchers they can control past this season.
