Newton's About To Get Paid

I know TATF but it's a division rival and helps demonstrate how we got a good deal with Ryan as they're about to pay Newton about the same or even more. Also nice they won't have that advantage of their QB on the rookie scale anymore going forward

"@RapSheet: My understanding on the imminent Cam Newton 5-year, more than $100M extension is full guarantees are very real. We wait for firm numbers"

"@JasonLaCanfora: Cam Newton hasn't yet agreed to terms, but every expectation his extension done in next 24-48hrs. Will be making over $20M/year..."

"@adbrandt: Tannehill's deal very much like Kaepernick and Dalton, essentially $25M over 2 years, then "we'll see." Expect Cam to be much more."

Looking at it unbiasley(if that's even a word) while Ryan is a better pure natural QB(old fashioned if you will). Cam Newton as the new mold of QBs(more athlete than natural passer) has led his team to the playoffs back to back years, has won the same amount as Ryan in the playoffs, the place where so many people base how good a QB is, so with that being said he should be getting a contract similar to that of Matt Ryan, and it be deserving, just as Ryan's contract was deserving.

Newton's defense took him to the playoffs. If Matt Ryan had that kind of production on his defense, Falcons would have been in the playoffs last year.

The teams we lost to in the playoffs all went to the Super Bowl. The team we beat, won the Super Bowl the next season.

Arizona was wiped out when they played Carolina. They didn't have a chance, and it was still the Defense that was the key to their win. Not all playoff wins are the same.

still a win or loss, if you win your QB is credited for the success,if it's a loss, the QB is blamed for a loss.

I personally hate this form of distinguishing the best QBs, but that's how so many people here and in the media base the best QBs from.

So playoff wins Ryan 1, Cam 1.

Now it becomes "well Ryan had harder opponents, etc etc."

Looking at it unbiased, wouldn't cam be considered as having the same amount of success as Ryan? And looking at it in that way deserve a similar contract?

By no ways does this mean Cam is a good as Matt Ryan as a QB, just playing the same position(very differently) he has had the same amount of success.

Russell Wilson has to be loving this

after seeing what tannehill got, still shocked as he has done nothing to garner such a big payday, and now seeing what Cam is going go be getting,it's kinda scary to see what Russell gets, wouldn't be shocked if he ends up getting payed more than Rodgers.

The W/L method of judging QBs is dumb. If that's the metric then Tim Tebow and TJ Yates should have $100 million contracts.

It's just lazy analysis. What would Matt Ryan look like with Bill Belichick coaching, and an all-pro OL.

There are so many more variables in the NFL than in any other sport. QBs should always be judged by how they perform in context of the 52 men around them, and the scheme and plays called by the coaches.

I agree with you on that aspect,I even stated I disagree with how QBs are rated based on Wins, but that is sadly how they are rated from best to worst in this league. Namely Playoff wins, other factors play in it but ultimately,it's how much success have they had. And up to this point based on that View it would show Cam is deserving of a contract similar to Ryan's.

That's all I'm trying to say, do I think Cam deserves it based on how good he is as a QB,definetly not,**** if that's how it would be viewed, only 3 QBs would be making that type of money. No other QBs would smell 75mil.

So what's up? Yall predicting the Panthers to fall hard once Cam gets paid?

Like the Falcons fell hard after Ryan got paid?

Panthers can only improve on what they have, that defense is the stenght of that team. As long as it stays strong and Cam gets more help, they will be fighting for the NFC South title

Good, now the idiots can quit crying about Matt Ryan's contract.

Congrats Cam Newton on your one playoff win against a team with no QB, RB, and half the defense on the IR.

I was just about to post something very similar to this.

This is what angers me about people quoting Matt Ryan's "one" playoff win. It came against a team that would then go on to play in the next two superbowls, additionally it required a drive down the field to field-goal range in less than a minute.

You compare this with Cam Newton's "one" playoff win. It came against a team which achieved unbelievably poor offensive production because Carolina's defence was incredible. The game also somehow remained close until the end of the third period.

Rant over.
