capologist
Shembo's release resulted in $225,438 in dead money and Derrick Malone I'd guess at $1,000 (bonus hasn't been solidified) for his dead money.Nothing on Chester's structure yet. Herr Doktor
Truth be known, I think it blows that we have to absorb that piece of ***** dead money. Im sure it all makes business sense, but morally its reprehensible.

Im sure it all makes business sense, but morally its reprehensible. We might not depending on his contract. Not sure how they are structured, but if he's ultimately convicted, and we released him because of the charges, we might be able to get it back if it's structured correctly.I hope so. Monolith2001
I'm a little surprised that all players should not have to sign a "stupidity" clause that allows teams to back out of contracts. Maybe there is since he is only "accused" and not "guilty".

Maybe there is since he is only "accused" and not "guilty".The teams already can cut anyone they want at any time and don't even have to honor contracts to their length as it is. Good luck getting the NFLPA to agree to a "stupidity" clause giving teams even less restrictions.

Im sure it all makes business sense, but morally its reprehensible.Signing bonuses are exactly that. It's better for the team to structure these things as roster bonuses so that they can cut a player and not have to eat signing bonuses but the agents know that as well and they will negotiate as such... AndySG
Agreed that we shouldn't have to pay him. He breached his contract, in my opinion.
Duff_Man
Agreed that we shouldn't have to pay him. He breached his contract, in my opinion. He was signed to play football. He did just that. This isn't a breach of contract.
AtlantaFanatic
Agreed that we shouldn't have to pay him. He breached his contract, in my opinion.Have you read his contract?Plus as big of a POS as he is I'm wondering if he did breach his contract. Being arrested doesn't mean you are guilty of a crime. The Falcons chose to cut him based on the information they had, not because he was found guilty and a "criminal"The team decided that having him off the team immediately was worth a quarter mil. LolI understand what you are saying tho
